I present a sequence of time-lapse clips of the Perseid meteor shower captured by three cameras running simultaneously on August 12, 2021. The location was Dinosaur Provincial Park, Alberta.
The clips show the meteors as very fast streaks appearing for only one frame, so they are easy to miss. More obvious are the longer streaks from aircraft in and out of Calgary, and from satellites.
The long 30-second to 1-minute exposures for each frame makes those interlopers appear as streaks and so are more obvious than the short-lived meteors. But to the eye satellites and aircraft appear as moving dots, with the meteors much more obvious as streaks.
The technical details are:
Clip #1 - With a TTArtisan 7.5mm circular fish-eye lens at f/2 on a Canon EOS Ra camera at ISO 3200 for a series of 30-second exposures, 316 in all over 3.5 hours. The camera was on the Star Adventurer Mini tracker. However, I forgot the tracker was programmed to shut off its tracking after three hours, so at the end of that clip the sky starts turning again! The still image at the end stacks the 24 frames with meteors.
Clip #2 - With a Rokinon 14mm SP lens at f/2.8 on a Canon 6D camera at ISO 3200 for a series of 1-minute exposures, 183 in all over 3.5 hours. The camera was on a Star Adventurer tracker. The still image at the end stacks the 27 frames with meteors.
Clip #3 - With a TTArtisan 11mm full-frame fish-eye lens at f/2.8 on a Canon R6 camera at ISO 6400 for a series of 30-second exposures, 361 in all over 4 hours. The camera was on a static tripod and was not tracking the sky. The still image at the end stacks the 32 frames with meteors.
All frames processed in Adobe Camera Raw and LRTimelapse. The final movies were rendered out at 10 frames per second using TimeLapseDeFlicker in a one frame lighten blend mode. Editing was in FinalCut. Music is by Adi Goldstein / AGSoundtrax.com

I provide detailed step-by-step tutorials on processing stacked meteor shower photos, with both tracked and untracked cameras, in my ebook How to Photograph and Process Nightscapes and Time-Lapses, available from the Apple Bookstore and via my website at www.amazingsky...
