As a 70 year old, it is interesting that this year my birthday falls on a blue moon. I haven't sat down and tried to calculate the odds, but considering the average lifespan, the infrequency of blue moons compared to one particular day of any given month, and the fact that I'm still above the sod to note the event, makes it seem rather special. Like a gift from the Cosmos for a life long lived. Then again, maybe it's the wine. 😎

Hi! So last night I witness a meteor in Abu Dhabi, UAE when I was standing out in my balcony. It was the first time I saw one and it disappeared within fraction of seconds. It was bright orange/red in colour making it look like a fire ball! 😃

@davidkhrystenko
@davidkhrystenko 3 жыл бұрын
@@epicbottleflips5032 I started a year and a half ago. I started out with my cheap Google Pixel 3a. About half a year ago, I bought a Sony a6000 with two lenses for $370. I also bought the Sigma 16 mm 1.4 for $240. This is a picture I took yesterday: photos.app.goo.gl/piS4obcydpdVywkc8 There isn't a specific price to start astrophotography. You can take pictures of the stars with a $200 phone, or with a $10,000 setup. Start with whatever you have, build up your skills, and overtime upgrade your gear.

Lol I just started takin pictures with my phone. Then got a decent image when I bought my canon eos 2000D. It was on sale so I got a full kit for 400€, I then bought a bigger lens and a Skywatcher NEQ3-2, so now I can capture some decent shots. Astrophotography is basically trial and error, you get your gear and learn how to use it, improve on your skill and gather knowledge about what you want from your gear, then you'll know what to look for when upgrading from your 1st or 2nd setup

We are having our annual Star party next week in Goldendale Washington state. We are the Tacoma Astronomical Society. One of our members owns a large track of land outside of Goldendale Washington. It is a Bortal 2 site. We also have the Goldendale Observatory and a Complete replica of Stonehenge in the area. It is a WW1 memorial. It is along the Columbia river. Also not far away is the Ligo Hanford Observatory. I have been to all of these places. Not bad from a state that is regarded for a lot of rain. I have been to London twice and have seen the real Stonehenge twice. I thought England was a rather dry climate compared to Washington State, but there you go.

Great - can't wait for the Perseids Shower. Will be my first Meteor Shower that I will try to shoot. Do you have some tips on what I should do for shooting? Timelapse with how long of an exposure? I have an APS-C camera with a Samyang 12mm Lens that should help me take longer exposures in order to capture the whole trail. Would love some "guide video" or something like that - maybe you already did that and I missed it in the sea of awesome videos you have. Cheers,

@@mr_nemo24 I'm pretty sure the light pollution of London is not going to subside in a year, and I have tried to get even a hint of Milky Way and it's impossible with my equipment in a Bortle 9 sky. Pity i can't upload an image from 2 nights ago from OZ, but we have the milky way so good from now until late October and obviously since late February. Capturing it rising in the east to north east still for at least this month but also turn to the west and get it setting on the same night weather permitting, portrait orientation still just gets it in when rising but the later sunsets are starting to push towards as you said panorama images unless not worried about having foreground in the shot. I'm privileged enough that I can walk out my front or back door, and take photos of it or even do time lapse which I've only just started doing (my first couple attempts are on my channel)
