The Persian Presence in Victorian Poetry

Here is an interesting lecture by scholar Reza Taher- Kermani about the Persian presence in Victorian poetry. He is talking about his book. Victorian poety did make Oriental references. The Orient then being the near East and not the Far East which it later became. Hollywood still has a lot of reverence for Orientalism and continues to promotes the stereotypes to push their own agenda and legitimise their difference and purity and holiness and tribe and race. Orientalism for justifying and Legitimising Imperialism and Tribalism and Racism and Slavery and Submission and Alienation, I'm afraid.
