***** I actually don't like it either. But it was too good to pass up. My reasoning mainly has to do with the author using main character death so often. If they die all the time, and you know they are going to die when you write them, they are NOT main characters for a story. Not all of them anyway. We have had so many story arcs amount to absolute zero because the main character dies and nothing that you read matters. Most characters are footnotes in the grand scheme of John Snow and Queen Dragon Lady. Add secondary characters like Tyrion Lannister, Bran and arguably the Stark girls and you have your story arc. All the politcal drama is just bogging down the story. You have Queen Dragon doing nothing while the rest of the story catches up, and John Nobody doing nothing at the wall while the story catches up. No matter how you slice my breakdown, you must admit that there is no focus to the story, at all. There is a plethora of useless information that any other author would put in an appendices at the back of their book. Or expand on in a spin off series. The bloat is my problem. Get on with the story.
