I'm wondering why there's no "PHILIPPINES-SOUTH KOREA DEFENSE PACT," kinda like our MDT with the Americans, wherein one nation comes to the aid of other in case of Invasion or War. (Declared or Undeclared) Up to now, no one's seems to be pushing for it to happen, on both sides, maybe in the past there was, not sure really. The Philippines was a part of a multi-national U.N. Force led by the Americans in the 1950's KOREAN WAR which fought and pushed back the communist North Korean forces from totally occupying the South. (South Korea) The Koreans have appreciated our contributions in their fight for freedom on many occasions. And we likewise appreciate their goodwill gestures as they are our top source of foreign tourists and they're a big help in our defense build-up.(AFP Modernization Program) Maybe we should study carefully the merits of this idea, on how it could benefit both countries. (S.Koreans & Filipinos) It's not like we're doing something new here as South Koreans and Filipino soldiers share "a history together in battle."

Your idea of 50 Surface Ships, and 6 to10 subs would be a "formidable force" if ever. Yes it will do heavy damage to the enemy, but wouldn't win against the combined forces of the People's Liberation Army, PLA,(Army)PLAN,(Navy) PLAAF, (Airforce)PLARF,(Rocket Forces) this force will not deter them, if they're really hell-bent on attacking you. I estimate your "list" to cost around $ 24B to $25 Billion dollars( $375M/ naval Ship x 50 = $ 18.75 Billion dollars, 10 Diesel-electric sub priced @ $600Million dollars x 10 = $6Billion dollars. $18.75B+ $6B= $24B~$25BillionDollars in total.

@@Jshrgs Without weapons, the Miguel Malvar class ship costs between $275M to nearly $300M.(if I remember it correctly, I could be wrong) If fitted with missiles costing between $1.2 to $ 2+million, anti-air, anti-ship missiles, then it would be another $ 30+ million dollars. Plus add other systems, or maybe a 32-cell VLS, instead of 16 or 24-cell VLS. The sub prices are in the price range of Scorpene Subs, complete with torpedos, which would be in the vicinity of $600M. All these figures are just estimate.

The important assets for PAF is to acquire huge air defense and offense like ground to air and additional fighter jets of FA 50 or JAS 39 gripen I hope our government pursue for acquiring more capabilities

If South Korea wants to help, it would be better to do it ASAP. TIME is ticking, around 200 units K30-BIHO & 500 units K239 CHUNMOO ( with 5,000 CTM-90 Missiles ) for the PHILIPPINEARMY. Some 1,500 units of MANPADS KP-SAM CHIRON for the PNP SAF , AVESGRP & MARITIME GRP will be highly appreciated. 😁 will secure the philippines while in the process of rebuilding its defense. A SOFT LOAN will be highly appreciated .

Yeah, I agree with you, but the enormity of your "list" is too huge, as they cannot be too complacent, coz the North Koreans threat is still ever present, and they need also to invest huge money into defense department yearly in billions of dollars, for upgrades & new acquisitions, etc. They maybe a rich country but they're not that rich enough to extend huge loans amounting to billions of dollars, any help from them, without "breaking the bank" would be most welcome.

@user-uc9qt1mc5i that's not a lot 😁 1 unit of K30-BIHO ~$ 12million X 200 = $ 2.4 billion dollars 1 unit of K239 CHUNMOO ~ $3 million X 500 = $ 1.5 billion dollars 1 unit CTM-90 Missile ~$600K X 5,000 = $ 3 Billion dollars. 2.4 B + 1.5 B + 3 B = $ 6.9 BILLION $6.9 BILLION X 50 PESOS = 345 BILLION PESOS ( Payable in 10 years without interest) 😁

I wish our "young" enthusiasts would be more in-depth, more creative, more detail oriented, and not limited to conventional type of thinking. I too can learn from young guys like you. That is if you're still young.

@user-uc9qt1mc5i I'll disagree 😁 The philippines can pay that amount in 1 year by cutting its general appropriations budget of some department like the DPWH which has around 1 trillion budget this year , ergo 345 billion pesos is just ~1/3 of its budget . 😁 Its Better to get those defense fire power that end up with bombed bridges , airports, ports, buildings & roads which is more expensive that 345 billion peso payment. 😁

The problem with ship & subs is the duration of manufacturing. In case of the philippines constantly being threatened & bullied by its war loving neighbour, it doesn't have the luxury of waiting for decades . Its best move would be to acquire sea vessels from multiple manufacturers to make fast its defense. This also mean that while waiting for multiple vessels to arrive , anything of value to the defense of our territory must be immediately acquire & made available when needed . Although not ideal , these means Lots of MANPADS, GPMG, GRENADE LAUNCHERS, SNIPER RIFLES, INFSNTR6 RIFLES , SMG , GRENADES , MORTARS, LANDMINES , NAVAL MINES , & tons of ammunitions .

@@MurderPierrot that on top of the natural order of long duration of manufacturing 😁 If you can only get 1-2 ship per year & you are in need of hundreds of ships to realistically provide a good defense for the philippines, common sense dictates that you proceed to procure from multiple sources, after all most military ships we can order are very good & capable of doing its job . Here's my take : 10 SKJOLD CLASS CORVETTES from Sweden 10 VISBY CLASS CORVETTES from Finland 10 SAAR 4 missile boats from israel 10 HAMINA CLASS MISSILE BOATS 10 SA'AR-6 CORVETTES 10 ALVARO DE BAZAN CLASS FRIGATES 10 DAEGU CLASS FRIGATES 10 MOGAMI CLASS FRIGATES 10 NANSEN CLASS FRIGATES 10 TYPE 26 CLASS FRIGATES 10 TYPE 31 CLASS FRIGATES .......... MY point is in 1 year of waiting you get at least 10 -15 ship . Ship today can be modular that you get to choose what radars, sensors , armaments to install making familiarity issues no big deal . 😁

The inconvenience & added cost of multiple systems used OR the sure defeat of not having anything in your hands to defend yourself with ?? FIGHTING WITH A DIFFICULT EQUIPMENT OR DEAD & DISGRACED??

Unfortunately, corruption and crime are so rampant in today's Philippine society. If the Philippines fails to advance its political system, the future of the Philippines will be in a big crisis.
