That opening tune is still used today in dance performances here in the Philippines. I got hit with a wave of nostalgia from when I had to learn the steps to so many native dances in highschool, and all to that tune.

"Only one big city, Manila" That big city is now a huge city that is home to 12 million people. The urban sprawl emanating from this city is growing farther and farther into what was once rural provinces. The NCR and its urban sprawl dubbed "Mega Manila" has as many as 35 million people. China's Pearl River Delta is even bigger with a population of around 120 million.

The first Asians to reach the Americas were Filipinos who landed in 1587 in what is now California. Some say as early as 1565 through the Manila galleon trade route. Filipinos beat other Asians, Africans, Middle Eastern and most European to the new world.
