Good work from the fire crew, water was on within a minute of arrival. Not easy considering that they would have been sound asleep at home 10mins before they appear in this vid.

also be aware Fort William Fire Station is retained. Meaning that crew were probably at home in their beds at that time of the morning. The guy filming would of called 999 told the control centre. The control centre would of paged the crews on call that night. They would of had to get up out of bed, get dressed quickly get to the station, get the doors open and everyone on board then actually attend the fire which may still only be 2 minutes or less down the road but it still takes time. They did remarkably well considering the situation.

Obviously by the time the film started meaning the fire had been burning for a long time before discovery it's hard to pin point a cause, it is unlikely caused by the fryers or any equipment as such as at the time of the fire it was probably started around 3:30am and not be discovered for 20 minutes however it doesnt rule out an electrical fault somewhere that caused the initial ignition. With it being a pizza place and a fish a chip shop means a bundense of material for the fire to eat through, couple with what we call "the stack" the extraction if it hasn't been cleaned in a while the fire would of just had that immediately and then started on the fryers and spreading. The company who owned it are actually based in Sussex, and one of the directors had been apart of no less than 3,544 appointments to do with companies.. the other one would be Arson, however it being that early in the morning and having people about in a small town like Fort William at 3am would be not impossible but unlikely. however as I think the main part of the fire initially was towards the back of the in the kitchen however due to the length of being discovered again the fire has eaten everything in its path so it would be one of them unknown causes. Now I'm not saying Arson is also part of a insurance job I dont see it.. to go from Sussex to the top of Scotland to set a fire at 3.30am plus for insurance payment, to go to that effort and wastage the insurance would only pay out x amount plus excess it wouldn't be worth it, plus also ruin another two businesses in the process no one in the right mind would such a thing, a person would rather make a business go bust then actually go to the trouble of setting a fire. Plus Arson with or without intent to endanger life still carries a hefty prison sentence, so I would certainly rule that out, but not arson caused by someone unhappy with the takeaway for whatever reason but not for insurance job.

Imagine if you didn't notice at all or stayed up that late. Would've got a lot worse if you didn't take action in time. Great job doing so.

I woke up to prepare the baby’s milk. I’ve heard some cracks because I live very close, so I moved the curtains. I could see the huge flames reflecting in a building in front, so first thing was to call for help and then I ran outside to see if there’s anything I could do to help. Unfortunately the flames were huge and I was totally alone. Even the fire brigade came after me, as you can see in the video. 🙁
