This book is amazing. I am not one of those that follows Oprah’s book club I ran into this book by accident a few years ago. Ken Follet writes beautifully. I also love World Without End, Fall of Giants and Winter of the world.

I just started reading this book and I'm about 100 pages in, and yes, its an excellent read. A nice comfortable pace, like running water. I'm not a big reader but I'm finding myself turning off the tv, and picking up the book each night, then I get sucked into it and can't put it down.

I read the book in 2008 after seeing it on Oprah. I love history and it was good! I was in college at the time and I even brought it in once for a presentation about historical literature that I was doing for class. I held it up and said this book is about 1000 pages and I’m about halfway done and I explained what it was about and people were shocked because it was so long. Then a few years later I read world without end, the sequel and that was equally good. I knew there was supposed to be a third book so I looked up when it was coming out and it wasn’t until 2017. I was patient and waited all those years and then it finally came out in September and I started reading it the first day. I’m still reading it now because it’s long but it’s still very good and it’s called a column of fire. Thanks Oprah!

and now there’s another one, The Evening and the Morning which I also found really good! It tells the tale of before Kingsbridge was called that and has Vikings and such

I have the same edition, the book is heavy. And the girls at the end of the clip, carrying like 2 dozen of those, in a bag, smiling... :D

This book is great. Got something for everyone. If you like action, history, romance, politics, great heroes and villains and more. I remembered watching Oprah as a little kid when my Grandma had it on and I remember seeing this one.

@@bellamovie2 exactly. Ken Follet really knows how to write a despicable character. Idk if you read the series (world without end, column of fire, the evening and the morning) but the analog for William in Column of Fire (Pierre) is wildly great as a horrible dude. He could be even more hateable than William...a monumental achievement tbh. If you haven't I'd highly recommend doing so if you enjoyed this book. Personally I think CoF is the best in the series. It's all about Elizabethian England. He actually makes Queen Elizabeth an absolutely fascinating character as well.

Halfway through this book and it’s stunning that Oprah and her fans read this book. A dark and seriously violent book filled with death, dismemberment, violent rape, abuse and misery. A truly amazing book though!

Yes it is rubbish as a review, tell us how much it weighs why don't you. No idea of how to review a book or present a book show but publishers love this kind of push.
