@@thomasferrarojr.9772 I am a big fan of TPT overall but i think there is some truth to that statement. Before gavin arrived they were quite experimentative, especially on albums like what we have sown with heavy electronics, ambiance and atmospheric built up. Tracks like November and Remember Us were very exemplary from their earlier work. The arrival of gavin harrison gave us the masterpiece that is Your Wilderness, but since then i am inclined to think that they've really stopped trying to evolve their sound in any meaningful way. And there's really only so many times you can play this type of music without trading a little bit of water. I think Disollution and VotT have some fantastic tracks, much in the same way as YW, and in that same style. But i absolutely do miss the more experimental side of TPT. The proggier, heavier, more elctronic which is what really set them apart IMO. That is not to say they're not doing an excellent job right now, but it does feel quite derivative to me as someone that enjoys not just the gavin era discography but a very large part of their earlier work. And Gavin is perfectly capable of delivering in all of these mentioned areas of music. I wouldn't quite say they've gone more "mainstream" but i think they certainly are taking a rather safe approach to their music these days. Off course i remain a keen listener and highly respect their work.

I've been listening to this band for a long time and they have always been at a high level of creating music, but after Harrison joined the band, his drumming and his contribution to their work made them currently one of the best, more interesting and most creative bands in the genre. Great sound, atmosphere and musical skills. All of their previous work is worth discovering for all prog lovers.

Saw them play in DC a couple of years ago and it was a fantastic show. They're returning to DC this November and I can't wait. If you ever get the chance to see them live, don't hesitate. They are phenomenal live.
