I raised my kids on Pink Floyd, the Buggles, Thomas Dolby, Yes, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Gentle Giant, Klaatu, and lots of other art rock bands. My son just turned me on to this. Love it. Glad to see that musical art is still alive and thriving...

Random time for a bit of a soul-bearing. 4EFB, I know I mentioned this to you briefly at some point in person, but after the thousandth listen, I'm posting it here now. I stumbled on Pink Side after a really rough breakup, and I was one of those weird ones who after 40+ years on this twisted planet, still felt lost and alone. With the situation I was in, the rise of Brony culture (or anything else) was something I didn't get to be a part of. After the breakup, I was introduced to Ponies by a dear friend. And it didn't take long before I knew it was something that resonated with me like nothing else did. But I felt like I had missed the boat; it was 2018 and the fandom had been around since 2010. I listened to this album over and over again in varying states of drunkenness, trying to piece together where my life had gone wrong. The songs were saying something but it took weeks to understand what. Like Pinkie, I had turned my back on the world and gone into a state of isolation, spurred on by the paranoia of an abusive person. But in the wake of that, this spoke to me. It took me a while to figure out why, but I began to realize I had been in my own exile on the moon. And just like Pinkie, far too late I realized it was a mistake. But what of the fandom? It was a concept I had dreamed of for ages and thought would never really exist, and I was falling in love with it. But I thought it was too late. I had missed the opportunity that I'd been hoping for since I was a little tyke. Then came the Message from Home. "It's not too late, so just hop on." I dove head-first into the thick of it and became a sponsor of major Pony cons. And it's close to the most important decision I've ever made in my life. I'll be here till the end. As long as the fandom exists, I'll find a way to help keep it alive. I might have put it to my rudder forever, had it not been for this music. This all culminated, when I went to my first convention. At Ponyville Ciderfest's 2018 Gala, I danced with the friend who had introduced me to the magic of MLP, while 4everfree performed the new "bonus track" of the album. It was in that moment I realized I was finally where I belonged. Thanks to all who were involved in this gorgeous project, and for showing me what I desperately needed to realize: "All I need's right here."

I expected some slight adjustments here and there (like the Stay rerecord) but what we got instead is a complete remaster with an additional song added in! The improvements are very noticeable (Nebular Skater in particular really benefits from the improved guitar) and make this album feel even more polished. My only issue with the original was that I felt like it could use a proper ending song. Right Here was absolutely that and much more. The Pink Side of the Moon already was one of the best brony albums and you somehow still managed to make it 20% cooler. You're the best, man!

I think I cried a little bit at the beauty of this
@Anarchic19895 жыл бұрын
Ok first off, I love this! This remaster is great and was a blast to listen to. Second off I think I understand this story now; here's what I think it means. At the beginning of "Without Me" it's her talking about how she feels unwanted and unloved, basically she leaves because she thinks that no one would miss her when she's gone and if they did she would lie to convince herself otherwise. In "No Different" she talks about how the moon is the dream of every astronaut to walk on, while for her it's her dream to be up there as her own place to be alone from her friends and live a new life of solitude and that when she's gone, no one would be any different to her absence. The song "Nebular Skater" is basically about her journy to the moon and how she sees the galaxy around her on the way there. The "Party Without Me!" Is her somehow either sensing or seeing the people in Ponyville having a party without her, which in her mind is preposterous and shouldn't even be a thing. I mean after all, you can't have a party without Pinkie Pie! But she can't really fault them for having a party when she left them behind like that; so it's a "double win" in her books. She gets to be alone on the moon and the ponies of Ponyville can live on without her. The song "Here on the Moon" is her talking about her arrival on the moon and how she made it. She tells herself and the ponies to not ask how she is and to not worry or care about her. She learned how to fly and so she had to move on. "Galactic Getaway" is her trying to rationalize her decision on how it's so much fun being on the moon and how it's the perfect place for a silly pony like her (even though half way through she is starting to talk about how dark, cold, and lonely it is) but she pushes those feelings away. "Come Undone" is exactly as it sounds, the lie she told herself is starting to "come undone" and how she is slowly starting to realize the gravity of her rash decision. She now arrives at the point of "Reality" she now acknowledges how this isn't what she truly wanted and how the "reality" of the situation is that she is lonely and the fact that she's on the moon means it's to late for her to go back, or is it? Alot of time has passed since she left Ponyville and now she's talking about how in her stubbornness and sorrow, she remains "Still on the Moon" and how she can't complain or cry about being on it. Afterall she wanted to come and now she's here; but she faintly remembers how she made a promise of staying in Ponyville forever with her friends, but she broke that promise and now deeply regrets it and wishes she can come back. This sentiment of wanting to come back home is only reinforced through her listening to her "Message from Home" the ponies down there miss her dearly and wished she was home, and she realizes now that she took the lie to far and shouldn't have traveled as far as she did. She now knows how wrong she was to think no one would care or miss her and even more so when the ponies say "it's not to late, we can travel back home, together". In "Who Am I" She questions why she did this to herself and how she tried so hard to convince herself she's someone she's not, and how it was a fools errand to go the moon on the pretension of the ponies not wanting her, how foolish. She is now making her trip back home, even though it's "Ten-Hundred Miles" away and it's an awfully lonely trip through space, she's atleast happy to be free from the confines of the moon and how she can go back to being just her self. "Bluer Skys" I think is her telling the ponies of Ponyville in there dreams metaphorically that their dreams are going to come true, she's coming back and her dream at the same time will also come true; getting to come back home, so wish upon the shooting star in the blue sky and sleep the nights away because Pinkies coming back. She made it back home and crashed landed, but her will to go home is stronger than the grips of death, she has too much to live for at this point. She finds herself being helped by another pony and she was brought back to Ponyville. She's glad she's made it back and decides that what she did was not fair to the ponies of Ponyville for leaving them high and dry like that, and how being all alone was making her think wrong, but now she sees the light. Some even ask if she lost her mind for pulling a stunt like that and she admits that she did, but she found it back again and wants to make everything right for her sudden absence. She learned possibly the greatest lesson of her life, everything she needs, her friend's, her home, her self, is "Right Here"

@@4everfreebrony I certainly did not understand this part of the story. In "Ponyville to pinkie pie" (tear jerker, and what lead me to find this album), Pinkie says that her ship is gone. So it's very much a case of how is she going to get back home. In ten-hundred miles, as much as she is saying that space is lonely, she's learned her lesson, I still (after several listens) cannot see how she is getting back. Even just being pinkie isn't enough to go planet hopping. Bluer Skies, even with you informing us that this is Luna saying the moon is no place for her? If this is where the album used to end -- Pinkie on the moon, and Luna telling her it's the wrong place, that still doesn't get her home. And "Right here" makes it sound like she's now finally in acceptance of her bad decision, and she's finally OK with being right there. Basically, without this cheat sheet, I was not able to follow what the album was saying, and even with the cheat sheet I still don't see it.

Iv never really been through depression, but i have went through a severe depressive state in 2014. Many things happened that year. Me being only a high schooler at the time, i had very little emotional skills to properly deal with the emotional onslaught that year brought. Lost many friendships, and had a breakup which caused my eminence emotional stress My emotional state got so bad, i was a mute for about 4 months.From January all through April. Until i went on a week trip to New York. One of the most painful things that came from that, was the eventual emotional numbness. I was so angry and sad for so long, that i couldn't feel the anger or the sadness anymore, i couldn't feel excited, or happy, never surprised. I mentioned the Trip to NYC for a reason. During that trip, there was only person i talked to. He knew the sever emotional stress i went through, and even though we werent close friends, he was able to help me severly. The week in NYC got me away from the stressors, and gave myself a much needed break. I honestly believe the trip saved me. When i got back home, my healing began. Another friend took me under his wing for a while, making sure i was okay. And summer came up. And i was mostly okay. Several months later, the original version of this Album released. I thought it was simply an album 4everfreebrony made for the sake of fun. But these songs, werent just songs to me. The album was a message. Idk what deity yall follow, but i know mine was talking to me through this album. Two things this album taught me. 1. If you are going through severe emotional stress no matter the cause. Get away from it. Go to another state, go Camping, or hiking, or a fishing trip for a few days or a week. Give your brain time heal before you deal with the stresses. 2. When in a severe emotional state, you will know who your real friends are. And unfortunately, you will learn who they arent. I had many many many friends in 2013, i had a solid 50+ friends i would interact with daily. I was a social butterfly. After the ordeal i went through, i had maybe less than 20 close friends. The sad part about all of this is, because of the magnitude of the situation, i never 100% healed. I still have confidence issues that spawned from this, and sometimes i feel the pain from it. But i know because of my friends who helped me through it, i just have to think of them, and know no matter how im doing, my friends are there by my side This album came out after i had gone through the ordeal. But it allowed my brain to comprehend what, i went through in a measurable way. And because of all this, The Pink Side of the Moon will remain my all time favorite album. Thank you 4everfreebrony for this album, it really helped me through a really dark path and im extremely grateful.

Pinkie Pie is my least favorite of the mane six (don't hurt me) but I love this album. I didn't think I would to begin with, but I guess I was wrong. I feel like, while the story might be literal of Pinkie going to the moon, there are some undertones about depression and distancing yourself from your friends. It's really great. "Reality" is absolutely beautiful. Also L-Train on "Right Here" is incredible, one of my favorite brony musicians.
@4everfreebrony5 жыл бұрын
It actually is about depression. I wrote it with the intention of creating a story about emotions, but it eventually came to the point of being a story purely about depression. You'll notice that even each song represents a certain stage of depression.

That's a great album this one and I love it so much. I had myself thinking about this some time ago, how all the people I know would react if I suddenly went somewhere else and disappear, if I went in a new place where I could happily leave by myself, and this album ends up at the same conclusion I found: it may be initially funny and like a new life, but in the end I would need them so much that I would wish to come back home, where my friends and family are. Life is difficult, we somethimes suffer and hope to go somewhere else where no one can reach us, but in the end we will always need someone else to share our doubts, are fears and our feelings and well, even with someone we think doesn't care about us, we may discover that this wasn't true and he cares more than we ever thought
