Really glad you are giving it another chance. I think my next project will be another pink spitfire, probably rubber powered. The engine specs would be interesting to know as I fear what I am using now is not the best for the size/weight of the models I build. Thx for sharing!

Hi Andrew, the motor is unmarked but it's not very powerful 🤔
@johnnichol9412
@johnnichol9412 8 күн бұрын
If you want to know if the motor/prop combo is about right try holding the model vertical on full power, if it supports, or close to, its own weight then it should be fine, if it drops try a bigger motor.

@@johnnichol9412 Good to know, I will do that test. The issue with that is that I have to build the model before testing. I recently tried to fly a Cub and I think the torque was too strong for it to control itself. Maybe the prop, maybe the motor or probably the builder and the pilot. Thx for the idea!

I remember someone saying to me even a house brick will fly if you fit a bigger enough motor to it 😉. It's GOING TO FLY!

I would add tail weight to move the CG to where you considered to be optimal. We all want light models, but in my opinion correct CG is much more important than the weight you would save. The lift produced increases with the square of the flight speed, so you need relatively little extra speed to carry the CG correcting weight. My 2 cents worth ...

Hi Richard, I think you're right, nose heavy is better than tail heavy for sure but the correct cg is best, cheers

I recall your 1st attempts with this one .. using some of the ideas that I wondered about too, (at least at the beginning) the under cambered wing idea. And in my imagination, .. this would plane would float around, and be a joy to control. But your testing having proved otherwise, though .. the constant of air density is perhaps a tougher nut to crack, than what I was guessing. Thanks, Cliff.

I built a little Cap232 that gave me fits. I just couldn't figure out why she wasn't flying well. She is a pretty wall hanger today... Maybe someday I'll give her another try... I sure love that pink spitfire though.. Hope you sort her out..

Cliff good luck on the maiden with the new motor. Pretty sure you're going to have to use a lot of rudder in the turns. Still looks great. Jeff in LA USA

What's the deal with the pink colour? Rather unusual for a Spitfire. Is it a Breast Cancer Month thing?
