As a 24 year truck driver I’ve seen far too many accidents that were avoidable due to bad choices. Hoping for the two girls making a full recovery, hug your daughter tight Joey and remember we were all young once and didn’t always make the best or safest decisions. The first storm every year is always the most dangerous especially for the less experienced drivers. My heart goes out to the ones that were hurt and the people that weren’t make sure they talk and process what they witnessed.

Black ice is no joke. I spun off the road twice trying to make it home while crossing through West Virginia during a snowstorm. The first time, I was going at highway speeds and ended up in an adjacent field. The second, I was crawling at 20mph behind a semi and we both lost traction, even going that slowly. There’s not much you can do.

Glad to hear your Daughter wasn't hurt. Hope her friends in the hospital will recover. Black ice is such a scary thing that even experienced drivers can get in trouble with. Always important to drive safely. I had 2 classmates die (3rd survived) from a drunk driver hitting them, It is never easy and can happen immediately even when everything in your powers is done right. On a happier note... I am very excited for your 21ft tank

I remember driving over a patch of black ice.. did the exact same thing except turned all the way around. Happened in a small town in Wisconsin so luckily the road wasn't busy but as I was waiting for a family member to help get the car out a few people stopped to ask if I was alright. Still remember it like it was yesterday, my reaction and the fact it happened fast. Couldn't imagine it happening to me on the highway.

Im glad your daughter is ok. As for the birds, have a look at kakarikis, they are from New Zealand but available in north America. They are really easy to look after and hand raise, not to noisy and have hilarious personalities. They are like the bird version of a spider monkey.
@AVDB9511 ай бұрын
They are great birds but from what I have heard they are verry exspensive in North america compared to their price in europe or australia. Some off their good qualities are that they don't screech but have cute calls and they have weak beaks so their bites aren't bad, mine don't even like to chew on wood as they find it to difficult to destroy. Behavorial issues aren't that common in kakariki's which in my opinion makes them easier than a lot off other parakeets/parrots. Also they come in a lot off color morphs, you could have a small group but still be able to tell everyone apart. None off my kakariki are hand raised yet still are pretty tame, especially the ones that were born in our aviary. I just socialise them from 2 or 3 weeks off age while the parents still take care off them. I did hold back our first chick (a cream colored male) and while he isn't verry cuddly compared to a conure, he still likes to get onto your hand (verry good about stepping up) or shoulder to have a 'chat' and will receive kisses and doesn't bat an eye when you get him upto your face to sniff him. The only potential downside to them is how active they are. If your avarage bird is a toddler a kakariki is a toddler with ADHD.

For driving, also be especially careful with regard to snow and ice if you're in an area that you're unfamiliar with. In a lot of areas in both Canada and parts of the US, you have different issues and difficulties depending upon the specific location...it doesn't all handle the same way and the holidays are a lot of traveling time.

Hey Joey, Family always first mate, Glad to see you happy with your tanks and fish. Appreciate your safety share and your honesty. Thoughts are with you dude and the people involved. P.S many of the tropical birds would do great in the fish room (keep them away from cables etc.) just make sure the room isnt a wet hot box, though many tropical parrots would be fine. I love my eclectus parrot but honestly many great choices. Just do a lot of research into your bird to know its the right for you. If you go down that route.

I find when people drive recklessly (whether it's mild speeding or weaving in between lanes) during bad road conditions, it's usually because the driver has probably never gotten into an accident before caused by bad road conditions. My car hydroplaned and almost rammed my driver side into the median but then caught ground and zipped in the other direction into a car while I was going 50-55 mph on a freeway and ever since then I'm super cautious when it rains especially in areas where i know the water tends to puddle up on the road and even during dry conditions i get super anxious driving over 70 mph. Yes i might be considered slow on the freeway (which is why i usually never leave the right lane) but if you've been in such a scary situation you would understand. I had a coworker who is over 10 years younger than me complain about an older lady driving 35 in a 45 road when it was raining and said "the road isn't THAT bad," maybe so but you never know and tried to explain how scary it is to hit a puddle too fast but she didn't seem to understand because she never experienced it. So there will always be careless drivers because they dont know how bad a situation can be unfortunately.

All 4 people in the car where death immediately. That was hard to see. Because you stop call 911 and you can’t do anything because the car was only half the size it used to be. 23 years ago but i can still see the scene. Horrible.
