i think chapman will get hall of fame votes his first time on the ballot, not a surefire hall of famer but longevity is a big thing and hes been a dominant reliever for most of his career, being the first to introduce us to a wave of high velocity we've never seen, and he is still good at it with no signs of stopping
@cnking275 ай бұрын
I just want him to get the 5% to stick around. 2 rings and 7 all star appearances but he hasn't ever led the league in saves. He was definitely the most feared pitcher in baseball for 5 to 7 years, though. Him being a Cuban expat and how tied in he was with the development and lore of the World Baseball Classic should matter, too. He needs another couple of years of closing I think. If he got to 400 it would be no doubt, he's at 325 now and he hasn't hit double digits since '21. He has a .166 BA against and he's struck out 40% of the batters he's faced for his career at this point...insane.
@GonnaBeatchaBad5 ай бұрын
@@cnking27 Yeah, I think he's definitely a fringe HOF guy. He's too good for the Hall of Very Good, but maybe just barely falls short of HOF. I could see him staying on the ballot every year he's eligible but not quite getting the respect.
@sun6262-5 ай бұрын
@@cnking27 i can see him reaching 400 saves, he can do it before he's 45 and as long as he has no major injuries i can see him playing well into his 40s

@@sun6262- it's harder now, it seems like teams gravitate toward younger closers than they used to and he hasn't been a team's closer for 3 years now. I don't know that he'll get the chance to get to 400.
@sun6262-5 ай бұрын
@@cnking27 if he posts a great 2024-2025 season he will have a shot at a team's closer role cause if he gets the role i really dont doubt that 400 mark will he be among the top in the 400 rankings? no, but i can see a 380-410 end career saves mark

Idk, but if I had to guess, I bet it's a combination of stubborn ownership that refuses to change anything ever (stagnation, no growth, no direction besides "Win everything") and a fanbase that expects every single player in their team to be at their best at every possible moment. Both of those pressures are forced onto the players with no forethought, leaving them feeling worthless, depressed, and unmotivated if they slump or are under-performing. We all tend to give up when no one is supporting us, especially our "family" (the Yankees organization/fanbase in this instance).
