I’m an EM physician. Watched first two episodes. By far the most realistic medical show I’ve seen, except maybe early ER. The jargon is perfect. The thought processes are perfect. When they talked about Press-Ganey scores and Noah said, “we’re an ED not a Taco Bell,” I knew they did their homework.

I worked in the ER at UT hospital in knoxville TN. Its a level 1 trauma center and practically a circus. Knoxville is nowhere the size of Pittsburgh, but the patients in the waiting room and the endless problems in The Pitt on that show is extremely realistic. Read an article that this show was previewed to the medical staff at the hospital AGH that this show is based on and they all agreed that its on the nose!

Watched ER’s episode, Loves Labor Lost when I was pregnant in 95! Talk about freaking out and becoming paranoid. It was my first pregnancy and that episode was so real and raw with emotion. I'll never forget it.

I have never watched a single episode of ER but The Pitt drew me in and now I’m hooked. I can’t wait until Thursdays now.

I like the real time structure of The Pitt. I feel like every episode I’m just waiting to see what happens with the cases. The only thing is this weeks episode “10am” there’s no mention of the storyline with the potential school shooter. I feel like there would be more follow up over that.

I was caregiver to my parents at the end of their lives. I actually faced the decision of whether or not to put my father on a ventilator. I had worked so hard to keep Covid from killing him and when he finally caught it after 3 years, I felt I had failed him. The ventilator question was asked. I knew it wasn't what he wanted. Making the choice not to try was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life and I was lucky that my brothers, who were on the other side of the country, supported and agreed with me. You're right to say it's easy to say you won't go against your loved one's wishes when you're not in the situation but don't know how you will react when actually faced with the decision. No one knows. No one can know.

I'm glad you brought up the kid because I was like "by episode 6-8 we're going to see this payoff" lol

The Pitt is awesome. ER inspired me to get into medicine. Having worked in the ER, I can tell you fiction can be a mirror image of reality. Even if it is a sequel, it is a worthy successor.

That was the sandwich guy you showed. The guy who had the gallstone was a different person.

ER on steroids. I'm very impressed by the 2 pilot episodes! Even though we're missing our charismatic doctors (ie actors)

To be honest The Pitt feels closer to 24 than it does ER in some respects

It’s great! ER is great, this is great. Network TV delivering the goods where prestige TV is stumbling.

I immediately noticed that the codes are way calmer than ER.

I like doing an hour per episode because I think the general public doesn’t realize how intense a shift can be and this is a way to show this.

I think an ER does have the volume of patients. I was in the ER one evening and I was one of like 20 patients: bursting appendicitis sent straight to OR, 1 heart attack sent to cath lab, and me bronchitis. I wasn’t able to hear any other cases.

I also am very curious for them to explore COVID because it would have been in the early stages 2020.

ER was such a 90s show. Even the fact that ER had a score and a handful of celebrity guests was the highlight of ER. NBC had tons of restrictions because it was a television network which really forced the storyline to conform to Reganomic and Bush-like standards of the late 80s and 90s. ER was very cookie cutter, vanilla whitewashed because of the time it was set. The Pitt seems more realistic and focused on today's culture which is not as political because more can be done with a streamer vs network. The doctors represent more of what doctors see and experience today, post-Covid. Dr. Robinavitch...Dr Robby has more of Noah Wylie's family background which is similar in similarities...Russian and Jewish ancestry set in PA where 1880 German, Russian and Jewish immigrants settled. I am curious to see if The Pitt will focus on Dr. Robby's family legacy and backstory of his African American mentor Dr. Montgomery Adamson? I think these stories enrich the series where ER just never bothered to dive deep into any of the characters back stories that shaped the main characters. I enjoyed the plot points and the acting. The characters aren't glamorous or overly made up like in ER. You can tell in the 1990s Supermodels were instyle so big hair, make up and hair extensions were everywhere on sets, in The Pitt, the semi-glamorous actors even Dr. Langdon with his beautifully placed chin dimple looks natural and God given. There are beautiful people, but its meant to feature beautiful people who happen to be doctors in real time without a score telling you that something bad is happening.😅

I watched the 1st two episodes, having Sickle-Cell I've experienced hospitals and ERs more than I'd like to and they captured it perfectly especially the Sickle-Cell patient, the nurse shortage, post-covid scenery, and Doctor/Nurse burnout. I really like the show, I've seen Scrubs, Greys Anatomy, Nurse Jackie, The Good Doctor, The Resident but never E.R. I'll have to check it out.

Its so worth it! I never could stomach Grey’s because of ER. Can't believe it stayed on the air as long as it did?
