So Rutger left Winnipeg, where if he stayed and got sent to AHL team Manitoba Moose, he would have practiced, and trained in same venue as the Jets. And Played games in the main arena the jets play at. All one location. Now he has to go to another town for their minor league team. Lessons learned, i hope.

Nope because he’ll crack the NHL lineup probably about mid-season. Fact is he wasn’t willing to play to in Winnipeg, and Penguins need him more at this point than the Jets.

Pens c1-c3 is aged 36, 37, 35. Combined age of 108. They needed Yager in the next few years more than they needed McGroarty now as a bubble team soon to rebuild at best.

@@SpookyGuyRL I'm not going to say that the Pens have another prospect who has as an elite of a shot as Yager does, but they have too many of the small, speedy players who can shoot. Pens need some playmakers with a physical edge and can play in front of the net and along the boards. Yager's flaws (aside from physical size) include being too cautious against top competition in the offensive zone and not playing well enough along the boards. I don't believe the Pens make this trade if they projected Yager to be a top 3 center.

The Gauthier situation was that he got made at the end of last season that he wasn’t allowed to play NHL games. He refused to speak to Danny Briere in person at the world juniors when he asked to speak with him. The arrogance of a kid to do that. He’s three games in with the Ducks with no points. Michkov currently has 3 points in 3 games

i'm not sure o'dawg understands how easy it is for a goalie to pull a groin or somethin' with all the left-to-right play. the only way you don't is to not go post-to-post and rely solely on the defence. muscles are like rubber bands, stretch too much and _SNAP._ drafting huge goalies with longer legs helps with that.

He is still a prospect and playing with his team Moosjaw Warriors. I watched him in training camp and preseason, very good players and skater. We are excited to watch him develop and get ready. Hope he will be fully nhl ready in a year!

Yager is a great fit for the Jets who need centre depth, a good prospect in the pipeline to help fill that out. The Jets also have obnoxious success with players thriving after some development. He was a better fit for the pens too. Who have the same issue at centre. C1-C3 are 35, 36, 37. Combined age of 108. They need centre depth soon more than they need mcgroarty now. They're not a contender. They're a bubble team at best. And old. Yager would be coming online for them at the perfect time

Consider that Mike Sullivan has cemented a reputation of retreading the Penguins' lineup with established - if only modestly talented - veteran players at the expense of the opportunity to let young players demonstrate their quality. Rutger McGroarty's trip to the AHL has more to do with Sullivan's and Penguins ownership's faith in Malkin & Crosby finishing 1/2 in scoring (by a wide margin) and elevating their respective wingers all to top 10 scoring seasons than it does with McGroarty's own potential or current preparedness for NHL play.
