Hey Mitchell, hope you're doing well been ages since you posted a video. I just wanted to ask, in 2024, which SoC in an older flagship would you advise to have between the Snapdragon 865 and the Snapdragon 888?

@MitchellMillennial Both used, but relatively new in appearance and to the point of having 90 to 80% battery health in the absolute worst case.

@tadiwamavi5645 If I had a budget of $250 I would probably get a pixel 8 or a pixel 7 Pro on the used market in many countries. If that option wasn't available, I would probably look for a one month plus 12, but even here in Vietnam, 865 and 888 devices are already ridiculously cheap

@MitchellMillennial Ah I see. Alright, not a bad shout. I was already looking at the Pixel 7 as an option. I only ask because of the things I've heard of the Snapdragon 888 having really bad overheating issues across all their devices. So to avoid that I really wouldn't mind getting a 865 phone but it being a flagship spec'ed phone (max storage and ram).

Have had my pixel for a couple months now here in the desert. 35+ weather, no issues. Like you said, I'm not a power user either, but I use AI pretty heavily. I haven't had a single issue or any overheating. 50% increase in TOPS seems pretty substantial. I've had plenty of overheating on my iPhone prior and knew it was a processing downgrade, but I'm not looking back. I don't think I'll get the 10 but it does seem like a solid step forward and anything that iterates on the 9 is going to be a good device.

Google should just adopt Snapdragon and end their low quality chips once and for all.

If they do that they will be limited with how long they can offer updates. I understand why they wanted to be in control of their chip but it doesn't give them a pass for releasing a flagship (priced) device with mid range performance

that didn't matter when they weren't being sold at flagship prices. You were getting a great UX, flagship camera, good screen but now that they have brought the price up its no longer excusable

If the rumor is true by time Google release Pixel 10 ProXL, I will move to other Android smartphones that use Qualcomm snapdragon chip. 3:55 yes that’s correct.
