If you get the concept behind it, Moses is supposed to be the kind hearted and friendly good guy just trying to free his people, especially trying to convince Ramses to end the suffering of his own people. Ramses is the evil and mad tyrant who allows his own people to suffer because of his pride.

Can we just talk about for a moment, how they both embodied the characters from the movie with perfection? Caleb played Moses from the movie with pure accuracy. Using his grief for hurting his brother on behalf of someone else, in his facial, and body gestures, even mouthing no over and over when Jonathan was playing his part. And on topic of Jonathan, his voice was perfect for the role of Ramesses. The cruel, and evil parts of him in the movie are shown perfectly. His movements are pure gold on top of it. I'm not religious in any way, but oh my gosh, this movie, and the song, is gold. (I'm well aware this video is quite old all things considered, but I'm in awe anyways)

I'm fine with darker themes, just as long as good wins in the end. I'm sick of movies that just want to leave you depressed. Right now I'm experimenting which different kinds of plots to see how dark I can go and still pull out to make a happy ending.

Yes. Dark animated movies with a bit of realism mixed in. Most people have this weird idea that cartoons or anything animated is supposed to be for kids when in fact, cartoons were first made for adults.

In the movie, when Ramses says, "Nevermind how high the cost may grow, this will still be so, I will never let your people go," he says the word "go" very harshly, in a staccato way where he doesn't drag the note at all. It's very finalizing and fits his character well, but growing up with the movie, I always sung it holding onto the note, and wondered what it would sound like if they had done so in the movie. Jonathan did a fantastic job of it here. Love this whole cover, one of my favorite songs of any movie for sure.

From what I've read, “God hardened Pharaoh's heart" was actually a translation error from the Hebrew, it should read “Pharaoh hardened his heart against God." As for the death of the firstborn, remember that when Moses was born the Egyptians had done the same thing to the Hebrews, in no uncertain terms God was telling them, “Let them leave or you will suffer as you made them suffer." For the other points, I don't have much of an answer for that, faith ain't always pretty.
@dmchunter77726 жыл бұрын
F D you do realize that when the Hebrews rebelled against God they got an even worst fate? You think the Hebrews are free from this oh hell no! No one is free from death as it said every one deserved to die because of sin because in the life we live in doesn’t matter how long you live or how much you try to keep your hands clean the moment you see the true colors of the world of man you’d have already been tainted and defiled from all the bloodshed and senseless violence we Humans originally pursued

Every time I've listened to this I've tried to put my finger on why I prefer it over the original, and I've finally figured it out: it's that last build and up note - in the original it frustratingly stays quite flat with vocal progression, whereas you do what this song needs and belt out that last note going up, and it really makes all the difference.

Oh man, Caleb using his Cinnamon Roll powers to play the wide eyed innocent hero, opposite Johnathan’s growling demon, a dynamic complicated by their brotherly bond. I wish there were more songs like this, where the hero and the villain just square off, crack their knuckles and start throwing punches. In my fantasies Jonathan writes a whole opera around this chemistry. When John and Caleb are backing each other up that’s great enough, but when they are going to war it’s downright electric

Honestly haven't seen the movie in years but whoever is covering Moses makes me feel the pain he felt for the innocent of Egypt and how the plagues were making them suffer as the pharaoh wouldn't move his pride to stop it. "This was my home" "all this pain and devastation how it tortures me inside" it gets me every time. Good job but Jon I would have preferred a less scratchy voice for the pharaoh but it's your video and it's great
