The Plankton Movie Is UNBELIEVABLE for MODERN SpongeBob

This has NOT been a kind time to be a SpongeBob SquarePants fan. Sponge On The Run was absolutely AWFUL. While it wasn't AS BAD, Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie was so bad, that many consider it to be one of the worst things to come out of the series. But just like with The Sandy Movie, Plankton got his own movie. And I saw it. The question is, could it actually be good? Or is it a NEW LOW for the series?

Thank you for having me on, I really enjoyed the Plankton Movie and I was happy to share some of my thoughts on it. After the awful Sandy Movie, seeing a GOOD SpongeBob movie again after nearly a decade was really refreshing. And honestly, of all of the things getting leaked right now, this movie really didn’t deserve it.

Loved hearing your input on the movie. While I'll agree the Sandy movie is indeed awful, I do find it funny for all the wrong reasons. The scenes with Wanda Sykes were the best parts of the film, and the overall motive behind her is so dumb, it's funny. Will never not laugh when she says "WHO IS MISSING?!?" and her moronic henchman plays her theme music.

About Friend or Foe being retconned, it was said that Plankton and Karen were dating in their childhood. I feel like it's only because since he and Krabs had a fallout, he didn't see Krabs as a friend. So, since he and Karen were dating, it makes sense that he only considered Karen his friend *after* the events of the fallout.

Friend or Foe already retconned Enemy In-Law, so I don’t really mind (Also, the Plankton movie retcons Kamp Koral; the calculator Karen could talk in that show, but Karen couldn’t talk in the movie’s flashback until after she was upgraded)

@@salliemagnaye1403 I'm sure there are ways to work around the canonicity of "Friend or Foe". Like maybe Mr. Krabs was right about Plankton's behavior during most of the flashback, when Plankton had maniacal tendencies once in a while (much like the young Plankton in the movie's flashbacks); also in "Friend or Foe", Karen mentioned that Plankton created her from a Calculator, which is how she's created in the movie. The movie also shows that Plankton was born to a bunch of Plankton type Hillbillies, and given his reaction to his old life during the flashback, it actually connects to Plankton's own words in "Plankton's Army" stating "I've been away from home longer than I thought", because he actually blocked his birthright from his memory. But I know what you're thinking about with Plankton and his reason to steal the Krabby Patty Formula. You're thinking that "Friend or Foe" should not be canon, because Plankton swore vengeance for the formula in "Friend or Foe", yet he acts like he never heard of the Krabby Patty Formula in the Plankton movie... What if I told you that BOTH scenes can work in the same canon? {Spoiler Alert} So, while Krabs was being obsessed with the idea of money, and that Plankton was lifted up into the sky from the balloons Krabs gave him, Plankton later decided to create a new friend, who he named Karen. After Plankton and Krabs got into an argument over the death of Jenkins, they part ways and Krabs ended up with an improved patty batter. Plankton swore revenge when Krabs became popular, however, Plankton decided that in doing so, he should go to collage, so he left his Hillbilly life behind, and took Karen with her to collage. During his stay in collage, he has forgotten about his revenge towards Krabs and started to be more attached to Karen, as he started to give her upgrades and she helped him out in creating weapons of mass destruction. When they planned to go to the surface world with a giant robot, they got into a SNAFU when realizing Humans are much bigger than some of the sea creatures. After a bucket toss from a little girl, who lost one of her gloves in the process, Plankton decided to get lunch at the Krusty Krab, it is there that it started to come back to him when Krabs spoke out loud that his Krabby Patties are delicious enough to take over the world. Recalling his time of envy towards Krabs in his younger years, he used the giant bucket as his headquarters, named it "The Chum Bucket", and has become the Plankton we know today, much to Karen's dismay.

I like to think that planktons backstory with Karen is right after the events of friend or foe right after plankton slams the door on krabs he goes back home and the backstory of Karen and plankton ensues

Or, it could be that Karen (in her calculator form) was used for a security system, and even had herself connected to security cameras after Stinky was arrested. Karen was gonna show what happened after Plankton left from an argument, but she felt his happiness is more important, and decided not to let Plankton hate Krabs further. Plankton has forgotten about his revenge plot while he was in collage, but after his failure to take over the surface world, led to him visiting the Krusty Krab for comfort food. Krab's blurt is what made him semi-remember his original revenge plot, and decided to make it part of his main plan of taking over the world.

A movie focused on Squidward would be a good idea. This movie was a wonderful watch, so glad Demeech saved it so I could watch it for myself. Thank you for doing that, by the way! I loved how this movie showed off Plankton and Karen's beginnings, even if they didn't touch on "Friend or Foe", and it was heartwarming to see the two so in love with one another in their goal to conquer the world. I will say, it was nice to see Plankton actually take accountability and realize just what a jerk he was. Not to mention, I'm glad they gave SpongeBob back his level of maturity, even having him angry at Plankton. I LOVE HYDRA PSYCHO KAREN!!!!!!! I was laughing at the sheer stupidity of the Sandy Cheeks movie, but with the Plankton movie, I was immersed with what was going on, I cared about the plot, and Plankton and Karen's relationship. It doesn't have WANDA SYKES, but it's such a great movie I'd recommend to fans and non fans.

Technically it does retcon friend for foe definitely because Karen was a security system and not a calculator Honestly I wouldn’t mind them being loose with continuity and treating season 1-5 and season 10-14 as two separate shows if they didn’t constantly pander to nostalgia. It feels so selective they’ll acknowledge stuff for the sake of cheap references but they will other time blatantly retcon stuff (like kamp koral didn’t just retcon Sandy but also every other relationship SpongeBob has to promote a spin off show).

Here's my little headcanon: Plankton decided have Karen (in her original calculator form) be the security system, and had her connected to a Camera for evidence of their work. After a dispute, and the failure to attract customers (with Krabs being popular with his Krabby Patties), Plankton decided to go to collage to plan out his revenge plot. Karen was gonna show Plankton what happened, but she felt that it's better if she doesn't show it at all, because she wanted Plankton to be happy rather than bitter. The rest of the story is self-explanatory.

Theory to explain the retconning: Kamp Koral was solved with us finding out at one point that future Sandy sent young Sandy into the past to keep the timeline intact, due to Plankton and SpongeBob discovering the formula at the wrong point in time. We also know that young Sandy is travelling through time in the episode "PL-1443". Hear me out, but what if young Sandy accidentally triggered something in the past that shifted the timeline, causing all these new events to happen. It's a bit of a stretch, I know, but it feels like a good explanation.

This might just be my second favorite spongebob movie after the original! It was such an enjoyable experience that gave plankton tons of character development, it just worked very well as a spongebob (technically Plankton) movie, and thankfully it doesn't feel like just an extended episode.

Sandy movie is fine for what it is. It's one of those "it gets the job done" type of films. It's also a kids film. Not a family film. One of the reasons why more modern animated films fail at the box office and in the ratings is that they are targeted for kids. With more generic plots, simpler characters and fast paced action, yeah. Regarding the Sandy movie, defiantly not what I expected, far from it. But it's defiantly taylored to the younger audience, who wouldn't think twice about the little details (character dymanics, design, how good the jokes are or what they are, etc) that we would think about. But the plankton movie, now that sounds like a true 90s early to mid 2000s family film. I feel like this would've done defiantly well at the box office. Don't have much to say cause I haven't watched it myself yet.

I agree that this movie was awesome. I also think having Karen as the villain was very interesting and something different. I thought she was one of the best villains in the SpongeBob movie series so far. I also like how the tone of this movie was a little different and the stakes were pretty high. It was funny when it needed to be and sometimes serious when it had to be. Overall rating 8/10

For those who saw the movie, I wonder if Hydra Karen was based on Clover from Deltarune? She gave me the same sorts of vibes. The fact that she ended up with four (later five, very briefly) heads also makes me wonder if there was some Tiamat influence in there, but then she immediately separates into OG Karen and four flunkies.

I love it a lot but two things I had a problem were consistency issues but I know that spongebob constnatly retcons things so its not a big deal but friend or foe, the whole stroy was retconned or maybe it was done off screen, but since plankton says he was lonely as a kid, then it feels weird. But maybe Plankton just forgot the memories since he was being hypnotised. The other thing is, that when karen makes the chum bucket popular, it makes no sense for plankton to be upset about it since there are so many episodes plankton being happy when his restaurant is popular like chum fricasse, and planktons regular.

Plankton's memories in the movie were more focused on his relationship with Karen; his connection with Krabs is besides the point, and might as well be off-screen. While in "Friend or Foe", she said that she was installed as a security system, Plankton mentioned it was their third date when it happened; so it's likely those events could still co-exist.

If there is going to be another spin-off SpongeBob movie, then I think the best course of action would actually be to focus it around Squidward. I know that the next and possibly final spin-off film will most likely be about Patrick, but like with Plankton, there are areas to explore with Squidward’s character. Making a film that gives the writers a great excuse to better explain how he became so nihilistic about life and possibly giving him a taste of true happiness like he got in “Band Geeks” would be the perfect idea for a very enjoyable spin-off film. The Patrick Star Show already fleshed out Patrick’s character a lot, so giving him the last spin-off movie instead of Squidward or another character who may need some more development seems wrong. Maybe with the positive reception the Plankton movie is getting even before its full release, hopefully the producers end up changing their minds.

The "console" version is just another boring, bland, and uninteresting "platform adventure" game, while the PC version has some based minigames. It is EXTREMELY tedious to 100% complete the "console" version and you get a really b a d reward for doing so. 3. The "console" version's music utterly sucks, while the PC version has some true bangers. 4. The voice acting is better on PC (looks at Mr. Krabs) 5. The PC version is far easier for kids to comprehend and enjoy. 6. It's not fun to collect golden spatulas, which you need to PROGRESS. And so. So on.
