Liverpool's scouting has been so good over the past 5 years or so. They don't buy the most expensive players, they buy the right players. They probably have a list of 10+ players they could buy and fit straight in to their team just like Diaz has

Good point. Even city whilst have spent tons and not every signing is a "hit", their purchases have all been in 50-60 range. They pulled out of Maguire deal because thought too much and bought laporte and dias instead. Neither at the time thought top 12 in the world.

@happinessismychemical667 2 жыл бұрын
I remember there was an athletic report talking man u recruitment when Ole was still manager. This was when Bruno was on fire and the journalist layed out why cuz Bruno fit oles system to a t. Oles system clearly wasn't good enough and he didn't have a plan B but be did have an actual system and man u at points did look scintillating going forward. Then man u buy van de Beek despite their biggest weakness being a cdm which van de Beek isn't. His playstyle was also described as the antithesis to Bruno. Bruno likes picking ball up deep with loads of long passes and long shots. Van de Beek on the other hand prefers tiki taka and his best attribute is his off the ball movement particular runs into the box ; he's not acc on the ball that much. So it showed this clearly wasn't Oles player cuz didn't fit into his system whatsoever and ultimately Ole never played him for that reason. Recruitment is done by board for commercial signings

Some of his predictions earlier in the season were absolutely wrong though. He was so hyped about Ronaldo and Varane signing that he blinded to see the real issue in Man Utd team - like most Man Utd's fans. Some even dared to say that Man Utd would finish above Liverpool this season.

As a Liverpool fan I just feel embarrassed for Utd fans right now. You weren't expected to win last night, but you didn't even try to compete or make it hard for us. As for Maguire, I'm not sure he would get into any of teams in the top half of the PL right now, he's that bad. How is he regularly getting picked and captaining this team? His comments yesterday tell me there is something outside the control of the managers that is forcing them to play him, not that they think he should be playing.

I've waited my entire life to see Liverpool become a juggernaught again. I've only ever seen them become 'a bit good' then fail, over and over again. So you've got to enjoy it, and United fans were warned a few years back by Liverpool fans that this was coming. We had it with Hicks and Gillette. A horrible state, but United fans seemed to think they would carry on regardless of their owners and structure. They've not evolved. Arsenal even eventually had to do it as Wenger controlled everything at the club. Arsenal are still years off, but United are even further back than that.

I can only speak for myself but at the summer of 2013 I bought a United shirt and had the option to put on the PL Winner's emblem on the shoulder and I did. The reason was because I thought to myself "who know's how long it'll be before we win the league again". Well it'll be 9 years at the end of the season and we're way off of it as it stands. I don't think this United squad is as bad as some will have you believe, if you look at the squad Klopp took over when he came to Liverpool and where they now, at the top of European football, the job he's done cannot be praised enough.

As a football fan, United's decline is sad to see. Like it or not that club is a powerhouse and one of the main reasons the premier league has had global success over the last 20 years. Fans across the world will be switching off from football watching this current United side. I know people who would regularly go to OT that now don't even bother. It's not good for the prem. When you drill down to the main reason as to why Manchester United are in a predicament they’re currently in, it’s quite simply because they’ve had the wrong people (i.e., Ed Woodward) in charge of making the footballing decisions for too long, who didn't fully understand what they were trying to do.

They don't want people (except players) to kick up dirt but now that top 4 and going trophyless again is on the line maybe someone will wake up. Ragnick as a "consultant" seems to be a band-aid and show for the fans but he will have no power probably, Ten Hag might be good but he is also not a "big name" so he might just get bullied and hamstrung. Even Chelsea in 2016 under Mourinho who finished 10th wasn't that bad. That was the worse season I've seen as Chelsea fan, but I knew the players had something about them for the following season. This Man Utd team has been deflated for years now. There's no consistency or fight about them. Not only that that, but I've said this about United for long time, they have no tactics or gameplay. Chelsea & Man City don't even strikers that are recognized. (I know Jesus & Lukaku barely play) but the point is they know how to play & get goals win games. Man United took Juan Mata, Matic & had Lukaku but never built a strong 11 that has a chemistry & gameplay about them. The unity & bond between players seems like it's not there. That's my feel towards it.

@kevinhunter2985
@kevinhunter2985 2 жыл бұрын
The criticism around mourinho was not on his views but around the timing of them, and the manner which he delivered them. The summer after united came second under him, he didn’t get the players he wanted so went out to make it perfectly clear that United won’t succeed and he’s not the reason for that; he put himself ahead of the club. He said united weren’t good enough and threw the players under the bus before a ball was even kicked that season. You could also accuse him of purposely trying to get sacked. He was right with his criticism but he put himself, and his reputation, ahead of the club and didn’t do all he could to make sure what he did have, achieved the best they could, no matter what that level was ie 2nd, 3rd etc.
