Everton potentially being relegated is exactly why the SuperLeague should always fail. Poorly run clubs shouldn't have guaranteed money and well run clubs such as Brentford should be able to flourish
@VR463142 жыл бұрын
I agree to a certain extent but that’s not why super league happened , super league happened and is happening in uefa because of the unsustainable financial landscape, 85% of all money going out is players wages and agents about 3% of clubs are profitable over a 3 year period , we really need a wage cap and we also need to keep money in the game , when it goes into players pockets (like the abhorrent 100m signing on fee for Mbappe) that isn’t recycled into football that’s that money gone . We are sleep walking into the Americanised model because of this

@VR463142 жыл бұрын
@Liverpool FC it’s not Americans gaining it is an American model that we will end up with unless something changes . Super league concept was an American derived model. Let’s not say Arab money it doesn’t matter where it comes from but Owners with such wealth disparity have put an imbalance on football that is crazy . Teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona with the two highest revenues every season cannot compete with psg and Man City and are working at such a loss that even if they win all competitions they are still losing a vast amount of money achieving it , mainly due to the ever increasing player wages which aren’t recycled. They are trying to find ways to increase revenue with more games in champion league , conference, abroad exhibition matches … it’s not for fun it’s to claw back as much money as possible…. Now how can they do that most effectively and efficiently … create a franchise league (American model) with no jeopardy and a guaranteed prize pot but no one will watch that so they take the 8-10 biggest clubs with the biggest fan bases and create a Netflix style platform which cuts out all tv networks then back that properly (not just a measly 5 billion from JP like super league ) and you have starting 130% increase in revenue just for signing up with no jeopardy attached …… Et voila the American model

The message of it, the game, being a business for investment was the day Manchester United went public with shares. If that wasn't a signal of football being for profit incentives I don't know what is. There was no mention of the success stories that show what can be done in the leagues, Bournemouth's rise from League One with Eddie Howe being a case in point and so, Gary, it's not all bad news. This season we have a new team that's done well, Brentford, and they came from nowhere and showed us some wonderful moments. There are some great stories and I like that we have three new teams every year, and not always the same three, in the Premier League but you are right, we do need to carefully manage the relegation process financially.

They would struggle to get third place with 79 points if they played today. There are levels and this Liverpool and Man City team are levels above any Man Utd team of the past.

Closest any English team has come thus far to winning the quad is man city as they was only 3 games from winning the quadruple.. A last minute disallowed goal by var in the QF of the UCL losing to spurs on the now abolished away goals rule plus spurs last goal was handball yet var misses it oddly.. City went on and won the domestic treble that season and had a surmountable lead of 18 points by mid April so the league was already won,league cup won and city then went and equalled the record FA cup final winning score 6-0 a record that’s stood since 1903.. No other team has won the domestic treble and if you don’t win the league cup first you’ve no chance of even attempting to win the quad.. Liverpool may still be in contention at a later time of the season however they are still not on top of the league and if the leagues not in their hands as of now compared to it already having been won by city at this time of the season it is mathematically Man City who have come the closest thus far to achieving it.. As of now Liverpool have to win all their remaining league matches, reach the ucl final and then win the FA cup and only then will any team equal how close City came to achieving it.. Having reached a round further in the ucl thus far doesn’t count as being closer mathematically as the results can only count if the trophies are in the bag so it will only be after the FA cup final and before the UCL final will Liverpool be accounted for the closest team to achieving what Fergie once stated was impossible.. If this happens even before they play the ucl final then it will be justly deserved whilst if they then also go on and win the lot it will be the greatest achievement ever by any club football team in the world imo.. Even if they don’t win the lot they will of given it a great shot at it and I’m pretty sure the way these 2 teams crazily only seem to be getting better each season then the odds of achieving it will surely lessen for both clubs and with both clubs only getting better the logic is that one of them is surely going to achieve it sooner or later..

They probably talk about it being the closest because of games remaining and still being in with a chance of all 4, when the season is over and Liverpool are only left with the Carabao cup then it will not be seen as the closest by a long way but Liverpool have got to at least the 3rd of May with only 7 games remaining, the season City won all 3 domestic but lost in the UCL quarters is as you say only 3 games away and only the one competition left to win but it also means that any quadruple talk was gone by the 17th of April with probably 13/14 games to go for any quadruple talk.

It's not as simple as that. He's talking about the mentality side of things. If they go out on Wednesday, then suddenly the pressure is on to SERIOUSLY win the league because that's all they'll have left. That serious pressure could cause them to make mistakes.
