I've had this argument with a friend, the Mulan "happy singing, death" whiplash is good for a movie about war. It's the immature "men being idealistic, having some fun with shore leave and such" and then "war is brutal reality."
@Ra88ful16 күн бұрын
Its also a power sence, where it goes from "Ya where not men anymore!" to "Oh fuck, this isn't a fucking game no more" What I love about it is there is almost no talking at all. You see the character just looking around, and there looks scary, angry, and sad and it also tell the view "Ya, these guys don't fuck around" It works amazingly
@Umbra_Ursus16 күн бұрын
Well, that, and it wasn't just the brutality of war, it was a reminder of just what the Huns were: Barbarians, out for pointless devastation. That was a simple village, that could have been avoided (As one of the Huns outright stated). It was utterly razed for no more reason than pure barbaric sadism, rather than tactical conquest.

Mulan doing what it did from going from a happy go lucky pallet cleanser song to the war was to let both the audience and characters know that yes a war is actually going on. After that point there are no songs in the movie besides a reprise of "Be a man" towards the end. The focus goes to the war.

I adored Playmobil as a child, I also played with LEGO (although my real obsession was Mega Bloks). The thing about the LEGO movie is that tons of people used LEGO for stop motion animation for years, so already there was an aesthetic people were used to. Plus, before the LEGO movie there were other movies and TV shows with passionate fanbases (Ninjago, anyone?). One reason why making a movie about LEGO is easier than Playmobil is, well, in LEGO the legs can move individually to form a walking animation, something you can't do with Playmobil.

I love the 2022 Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers movie. Trivia about the cel shaded CGI there, the makers of the film wanted to use actual 2D animation, while the cel-shades CGI was a placeholder. But Disney forced them to rush it (probably due to the plague), so the film is incomplete and they had to leave it with the placeholder CGI in many scenes. I think the movie would’ve been much better if Disney had Japanese studios do the 2D animation like with the old series. Since most of Walt Disney Animation Japan’s animators now work for either Studio Ghibli, Studio Ponoc, Hideaki Anno, Mamoru Hosoda, Makoto Shinkai, or Studio TRIGGER; collabing with them would’ve been much better.

Not even a minute in, and I already gotta explain a little something. The history of Foodfight is fascinating, but to keep it relatively short, Larry Kassinoff wanted to make his own version of Toy Story and apparently believed that at some point the OCs in that movie would be IRL brand mascots in themselves. I was looking for a comment like this. The Goosebumps movie is honestly amazing. A beautiful love letter AND a clever deconstruction of the Goosebumps franchise. The original 62 books are sacred to me. Plus, when that movie came out, my dog, Molly, was scheduled to be put down on Back to the Future Day (yeah I know, such a grim way to celebrate such a beautiful day like that), and I was feeling miserable at that time because my family and I had Molly since I turned 9 years old in 2006, and saying goodbye to Molly was going to kill me inside. So, seeing the Goosebumps movie with my favorite Aunt, Anne-Marie (who had been a HUGE help in getting me to collect all 62 Goosebumps books in the original series, got me to meet R.L. Stine himself and who has passed away in April of last year), was comforting for me in a time where I was dreading something awful to happen. I absolutely ADORE the Goosebumps franchise, so the first movie is very important to me in many ways.

Here are some ideas for how I would rewrite the movie. I would add an uncle (Who shall be named Stan and played by Paul Rudd) and aunt character. So, while they take care of Charlie due to him getting sick, the parents are taking Marla to airport for her gap year. But there's a car crash and Marla is the only survivor. Since then, she has taken a no risk lifestyle which borders on paranoia (even to the point of throwing out milk 3 days before the expiration date). In addition, she has become overly protective of her brother. Eventually the family holds an intervention. Stan even overs to pay for trip for the gap year. Marla refuses to, an argument breaks out between the siblings. So, Stan takes Charle toy museum (Stan works as a security cop there) to see the new Playmobil exhibit. Marla follows and scolds Stan for taking him out. Stan having enough of his niece's behavior stating that she can't let fear rule her life. Then Marla, Charle and Stan are transported into the Playmobil world. Over the adventures in the Playmobil world, Marla and Stan reconcile. Stan even saves Marla from the Fairy Godmother (who wants to brain wash Marla into a Perfect daughter). At the same time, Charlie learns to be more careful.

The first thing I think about when I think about playmoble are those Indy toy stores that only sell educational and nonviolent toys.

Dasher is amazing because Daniel Radcliffe is an insanely great actor. He always puts his all into every performance I've seen from him. The Woman in Black is 1 of my most favorite horror films.

I’ve seen weirder movies that I am baffled even exists at all. Like Monsturd, which is an actual movie about a man who becomes a Killer Poop Monster who comes out of toilets and kills people. And Killer Sofa, which was about a person getting a sofa that’s possessed by a demon and kills people. And The Drone, which was about the ghost of a killer possessing a drone and continuing his murders. And Llamageddon, where an alien Llama with heat vision and super strength comes to Earth and goes on a killing spree. And VelociPastor, where a priest gains an artifact that allows him to turn into a Velociraptor and uses his powers to fight Ninjas. And Shark Exorcist, where a woman gets possessed by a demon shark and starts eating people. And Evil Bong, which was about a demonic bong trying to take over the world with her weed powers (and had several sequels. Even more baffling). So yeah. I’ve seen weirder.

I had Playmobil toys as a kid, and I'd usually have them do slice-of-life stuff akin to what you'd see in Bod or Postman Pat. Ya know, the complete OPPOSITE of what this movie tried to do!

This movie is like if Video Airlines (from Garfield & Friends) was drawn and quartered into a feature length film.

The most fun part of playmobile was that their heads are hollow and the hair can be snapped on/off so you can hide small objects in them

Clearly, the only people having fun with this movie were Adam Lambert and Daniel Ratcliff.

I still find it interesting as hell that there is an animated musical about Playmobil that stars Harry Potter & The current lead singer of Queen.

the chaotic nature of the movie I suppose is meant to reflect they were beamed down into the greater exhibition set of Playmobil? Like the Western-Highway-Viking-Roman Empire-Pirate-Soviet Russia playsets were just next to each other and this is the world that exists mixing into each other.

I haven't seen the entire movie, but I just find something comforting about it. Also, I like a few of the songs, "Give the People What They Want" is a genuinely good song.

Oh boy! Another “Rescue Rangers” fan! Now just agree with me that the second “Space Jam” was a fun film and we can be friends for life!

Daniel Radcliffe being the next Nicolas Cage wouldn't be a bad thing. He has already proven his versatility by now. He can be in literally anything and he'll never *not* be charming! 😃
