It's been one year since the release of the Newest Handheld PlayStation console. The Playstation Portal was a surprise announcement and seems like it came out of nowhere. Now that we have had a whole year to experience and reflect on the console... How do we all feel about it? In this video I'll share my experience and tell you if I still think it's worth it or not.

I have the 30th Anniversary PS Portal preordered, its gonna cost €240 here in Ireland. I'm glad I watched this now becasue I think I was buying it 'just because'. I barely play my PS5 tbh, and the fact that to get a good picture on this thing, I should plug out my HDMI, or change the resolution on the PS5 for this to not be choppy, OR, even to connect via ethernet? Man, that's a lot of things to do to just play a game. Not going to get this. I'll stick with my Zelda Switch Lite too. Thanks for saving me 240 buck :)

Good vid bro! Just confirmed what I thought about the portal. As a father of 2 the portal would have been awesome! If it was an actual console and not a streaming device. I bought mine a while back and had the same issue you had. I returned it two days later. Honestly it’s not worth the hassle. I’m just going to wait for the switch 2

I talked recently with a game store employee who said the Portal can get drift and that the replacement sticks are not great. Also, the Pro uses wifi 7 but the Portal uses just wifi 5. I don't remember PS1 and PS2 analogue controllers having drift issues. The same employee mentioned that the older controllers used magnet tech, while the newer controllers use something else that is more susceptible to drift.

I am afraid to buy one because dual sense controllers seem like they start drifting way too soon. I couldn't imagine this happening with something I paid two hundred dollars for, and I would not be able to use the thing. Spending $80 for a new dual sense is one thing... but I don't want to be in the same situation with a $200 + tax paper weight.

This is the only reason I don’t have a portal. It’s a compelling product for those who own ps5 but one stick drift and you need to throw away the whole thing? Naaah. Imma stay away.

I've been interested about the Playstation Portal since from the launch and still in 2024 because it looks so BEAUTIFUL and I LOVE to play games as a handheld mode so it's still worth it in 2024 and I would like to buy it's 30th anniiversary version with a classic PS1 style! 💙🤍

I got a switch lite to play animal crossing then never touched it since, same with my partner's switch haven't been used in over 2 years lol. Using my Portal everyday though, I feel like since this is a switch channel it's biased. But each to their own I guess, take care.

I think the portal and ps5 is better than the switch from a gameplay perspective but for casuals and those who plays simpel games the ps5 and portal is too expensive and doesn't offer anything special.

It is not a console. It is a remote player for PS5 Console. That is directly from their site.

I still think this device is garbage. I said before it came out people would have to deal with stick drift & they all acted like I was talking bullshit, even though I've had to send 6 controllers back since 2020 with drift. People will buy any bullshit The device is guaranteed to get stick drift, plus it's dogshit for competitive games or any game that really relies on speed, & the screen is absolutely mediocre. The only good thing about it is the fact that it's £200.

No shot $200 for a 720p 30fps machine hard pass. Also the mental gymnastics of being like why would I spend $200 when I can just play my PlayStation on my tv while justifying a switch and a switch lite lol
