Living in the Pacific Northwest with Hal Byrd, Lets make videos together!

I was thinking this was a video about the cartels moving into the PNW Pipeline. My friend is a firefighter in Northern California and said it's out of control. He said at least he feels safe because they protect the growing operations from catching fire. So they respect the firefighters.

Haha I can see how you might think that 😅

Do you have any advice for renters

Great video! Do you have a cap on the property tax of Camas or Fishers Landing where it only can go up a certain % per year? We have prop 13 in CA is there a protection like that in WA? Thanks!

Generally, WA and OR are the Pacific Northwest states, but the northern part of CA along the Oregon/California border is also considered part of the PNW, the Idaho panhandle and sometimes west Montana. Washington is just a little smaller than Oregon in terms of land mass, but Washington is larger than Oregon in population.

Yes, that's what I was talking about. I understand that some consider those areas as part of the Pacific Northwest, I'm just not one of them.

“Vantucky” sucks. It’s boring. No nightlife. It’s rural/suburban. It’s lacking in diversity. No public transit. You get paid way less than in Seattle or Bellevue. It’s a suburb of Portland that leeches off of their growth & activism, but still wants to claim the benefits of Washington. You’ll be going back in time if you move to Vancouver WA. If you want a cheaper house, then go for it. But you pay for what you get. Seattle has the high paying jobs. The Cascades. The Olympics. The nearby islands you can take a ferry to. The sports teams. The big time concerts. The pulse of the PNW is in the 206. Even Portland has a food scene that dwarfs Vantucky. If you wanna retire in a cheaper house that’s the only benefit I see in SW WA. And homeless people & tweakers still exist in Vancouver WA. That’s the honest truth.

No part of Vancouver is rural. Clark County? Sure, lots of rural areas in Clark County. Why is rural a negative? Myself & most of my clients don't consider or care for nightlife. Almost a good chunk of my clients either work remote or are retired, so while I'd love for there to be good industry & jobs and I hope the city/county work on recruiting more companies here, that doesn't deter my people. Vancouver is doing better & growing more the Portland at the moment. We disagree on most of your points, but some are true. Just curious, what city do you live in?

@@halbyrd_ half of Vancouver is rural 😂. In the city of Vancouver, the Orchards area is still pretty rural moving on north towards Brush Prarie. Also, the Cascade Highlands District is pretty rural. Rural’s negative to me because you can’t learn and grow from your neighbors, you just live in your home & hide from the world with your own ideas. I’m not saying Nightlife is a dealbreaker since every neighborhood in a city doesn’t need to have a nightclub, but if I have to drive 20 min to find a spot to eat or buy eggs after 8pm then that’s a problem. Vancouver isn’t growing more than Portland since it’s just a suburb that decided to build a downtown in recent years. The movers and shakers are in the cities. Where I’m at in Seattle, the city is still growing. Light rail is expanding, job market’s still strong, and access to entertainment and culture is abundant. Portland offers the same for Oregon but on a smaller scale. I just don’t see how Vancouver WA is fun or exciting compared to the major cities in the PNW. It’s more like a retirement community rather than a destination city.

@@misteriknow2069 Orchards is not in the City of Vancouver, and neither is Brush Prairie. And it would be interesting to hear what part of Cascade Highlands you regard as rural. But it's great to hear how terrible Vancouver is... more chance for the rest of us 🙂.

@@Graham_Wideman the rule of thumb is if I see a business with “Vancouver” on it, then it’s in Vancouver lol. But yeah enjoy the paradise of Vantucky. The 1 positive I will say about that town is that there’s a burger spot on the waterfront that’s pretty top tier. That’s about it 😂.
