.....one evening in the spring heard a long gone song from days gone by blowing in on the great north wind though it was no lonesome corncrakes cry of sorrow or delight you can hear the cars and the shouts from bars and the laughter and the fights

I've been listening to woods band and the first steeleye span album (which has Terry on it) and the outro to this is really reminiscent of that 70s psych folk vibe. Shows what a versatile band the pogues were - they pulled in so many directions, from 'Punk Clancy brothers' to celtic soul to psychedelic jams. Guess that was also their downfall!

When it comes to the album If I should Fall From Grace - These demos actually appeal me more, as the sound feels too clean for them in the later release... Anyway, thanks for the upload, and where did you find all this?

Terry Woods very important for them- Actually when he got in,in 1986,their sound improved by far,and they never looked back. I had a chat with him at Heathrow Airport in 1992, brilliant guy,at the end we shook hands and his handshake was so strong that I could feel the honesty within the human being.

@TheClarenceter What's wrong with us Yanks listening to this? There are more Irish here than in Ireland anyway.
