The Pokémon Edibility Tier List

It’s a well known fact that people in the Pokémon world eat at least some of the beloved pocket monsters that they seem just as happy to befriend and battle with. But, while Slowpoke and Tauros are well documented in pokemon cuisine, we wanted to go through and rank ALL 971 pokemon by edibility and taste to come up with a definitive tier list for pokemon edibility. There are plenty of Pokémon you can’t eat, more that will kill you, and while only a precious few that make a meal to remember, they certainly can be called a top tier meal. Actually, Pokémon fighting IS different from dogfighting because the participants in it are demonstrably sapient and could more reasonably be compared to forced gladiator fights, and more reasonably, because if they didn’t want to fight, they absolutely could just kill the person forcing them to fight and the only reason they don’t is because it’s a kids series and can’t show the Pokémon roasting a human alive for trying to make it fight/kidnapping it, etc. Reasonably, besides Magikarp or other limited move set Pokémon, nearly every Pokémon has powers that make it able to kill humans, and anyway ethics questions like this deliberately ignore suspension of disbelief. My suspension of disbelief for this being just a joke, however, I ignored because I wanted to blabber on, lol.

Yep, Farfetch'd is so delicious, it literally got overhunted & became Critically Endangered; the one in Kanto from a trade is literally the last surviving Farfetch'd in the whole of Kanto. They're far less rare in Galar, but that's because they've evolved to be aggressive & fiesty to stop people from eating them.

Seriously unique and amusing video. I wanna make my own, now. I am pretty confused by the looking human vs acting human thing. Like, Dragonite is considered better to eat than Magikarp... wut. Magikarp is essentially a regular fish. Something like Slowpoke, which has been at least partially eaten in-game (second gen), is another good candidate, imho. Both are super low when it comes to overall awareness, it seems. So it's perfect coz they are evidently edible, apparently have low sentience, would likely be healthy & satiating compared to real world counterparts, and they are both canonically food (again, Slowpoketail from above, and the dex entries for Magikarp)... meanwhile, Dragonite is delivering mail like a fucking everyday person(who is super nice and can fly), and who knows whether dragon would taste good or not, anyway. Oh man. Anyway, thanks for the video! Interesting to see how different people would rank things. Unrelated note: Mewtwo is the opposite of woke, since in the current common parlance, woke = in agreement with critical theory. Mewtwo was ultimately liberal (philosophically, that is - not in a political sense). OoooOOOooOoOOoOooo... Ok I'm done.

These Pokémon are more than likely edible: Basculin (edible in the games, plus it is sea bass) Whishiwashi (they're sardines) Inkay & Malamar (squid) Octillery (octopus) Pidgey & Pidove (pigeon) Torchic & Combusken (chicken) Unpheasant (pheasant) Tepig line, Swinub, Piloswine & Grumpig (pork) Mareep, Flaffy, Wooloo & Dubwool (mutton) Most of the grass types on this tier (although Oddish would probably get you arrested in certain regions because its part Poison Type & is a weed 😂) Crawdaunt & Clawitzer (it's crayfish, & one is part shrimp. However, Crawdaunt is actually gross, according to Pokédex entries) Miltank, Tauros & Bouffolant (beef) Audino, Bunneary, Bunnelby & Diggersby (rabbit; didn't include Loppuny on here, because it becomes human like, so...that would be both rabbit & cannibalism) Deerling & Sawsbuck (venison) Skiddo & Gogoat (goat) All turtle Pokémon (but be warned that the Squirtle line are endangered like real life sea turtles are endangered, & Tirtouga are extinct, so it is impossible to eat those) Krabby, Kingler & now Klawf (crab) Qwilfish (Fugu Fish; but only get it from Kanto, Jotho, Hoenn & Sinnoh chefs, because they know how to prepare it) Shellder & Cloyster (oyster) Psyduck, Golduck & Farfetch'd (duck; but Farfetch'd are critically endangered though, because of overhunting & Ducklett is a cygnet) Totodile line (alligator) Exeggcute (Chansey, Happiny & possibly female Combusken & Blaziken lay eggs if you don't like the idea of eating sentient eggs) Executor's heads (they're coconuts!) Tropius banana "hair" & Chikorita line's leaves Appletun Skin (Galarians actually eat the skin off of an Appletun's back, but we still don't know if they're actually eating dead sheeded skin, or actually hurting it by actually ripping off their skin) Slowpoke Tail (get them from trusted Slowpoke farmers who wait for them to shed their tails, because tails chopped off of Slowpoke is illegal; it's especially illegal in Johto & even in Alola, where Slowpoke Tail is a favourite)

For all the dangerous sac pokemon like Sandaconda and Togedemaru, I'd say you COULD eat them, but it'd need to be done by a professional with years of training, the same way you can't just make fugu in your own home due to all the poisonous parts you need to get around.

If we listen to you, we'd be dead, poison type Pokemon should automatically be put into the not food tier, unless you can justify ways you can eat them without getting poisoned. e.g. Qwilfish you could eat like a blowfish, which is poisonous. Or you can eat Ekans and Arbok as long as you don't eat the head.
