When you think about it we only see 18 cards in the binder, it's implied there are more but chances are they kept it to one binder page to keep things simple so even if they didn't have these things before hand, 2packs at 1 buck per pack and 10 cards per for 18 cards to put in binder than at most 1 dollor to specifically buy mysterious fossil and at most like 5 bucks to buy a-non first edition holographic charizard also like 2 bucks for a binder so at most if they did buy everything it's 10 bucks

Because of their popularity, people thought they might become ultra valuable collectors items. Most people were disappointed. You could have learned all of this from simply googling "Beanie Babies", seeing as you are in front of a web browser after all.

+You'reThatMantis I actually looked it up, Yu-Gi-Oh cards aren't really worth anything, since they keep reprinting them over and over that even the originals lose value The only ones that might be worth anything are first/limited editions, some of the rarer promotional cards, and a complete set of Exodia or the Egyptian Gods And if they aren't mint or near mint they aren't worth selling Also, it seems only cards from certain sets are actually worth money (the letters and numbers printed right below the portrait) the same card from different sets can be drastically different in value (despite being identical otherwise)

+dylan pheifer Pretty much anyone who buys early edition cards thinking they'll be worth something one day is hoping that whatever that thing is will get as big as MtG. In the right circumstances it might be worth it for some situations. It's probably more reliable than a lotto ticket, if you know what collectors generally go for you can do something to improve your odds (unlike a lottery). Still not a risk profile I'd take on.

I was big on collecting Pokemon cards growing up. Even got lucky once and ended up getting 5 holo Charizards from a few packs I bought on a whim. I kept one, and handed four out to my closest friends at the time. Hindsight probably a dumb idea, but we all still have them, years later. Funny skit though, didn't expect Kyle to be all knowing of the cards :P
