It's amazing. Stewart is always completely on beat, while playing violently or calmly. I don't know if it was a gift he was born with or just years and years of perfecting his skill. I do know that he was at his peak at Synchronicity tour.

This is insanely good. Copeland is a joy to watch--he really seems to be having fun here. Sting and Andy are superb as well.

All very unique drummers who served their given music in an inventive and ultimately iconic fashion. No need to make it a silly competition. They were/are all brilliant.

That Stewart Copeland. He's too good. Although he can't help but to wear short shorts during live performances. But it's the '80's.

@HughStirling Those are different kinds of styles - that appeal to different tastes. Stewart is playing over music that allows for a lot of improvisation. But it is his improvisation that is what we love.

Always thought it was telling Summers or Copeland didn't announce Sting at the end. Silence is deafening; they knew it was at the end.
@renaizman7 жыл бұрын
They never announced Sting. He was the leader who announced the other 2 and didn’t say himself because it would make him look more humble. Just the way they did every show

Sting truly was too full of himself for this tour, which I think must have been 1983, the year of Synchronicity. He was never as good The Police, and I've never forgiven him for breaking them up (and I'm sure he weeps at night knowing this).
@renaizman7 жыл бұрын
Brian Allan You’re right that sting hit a plateau around 1990. His inquiry into “foreign” sounds became repetitive. But what’s sad is that even he doesn’t sing but about 5% of these great police songs. The 2007 tour was a great shock to hear how much better the Police were on these songs than Sting’s band. But like many people, Sting valued control of his life more than being part of others in a group forever. He’s happy and rich. But it would be great if they would tour every so often just to hear these songs. It’s not like they’re “nostalgia.” They just “died.” Sting always wants to be moving forward and “cutting edge,” but that doesn’t mean you have to discard all your past. Copeland finally reached a point as he says about the 2007 tour, “Where I realized that not everything I said or did had to be the most important in the world.” He had conceded the leadership role to Sting by that time as he says, “I used to think, “He’s not a drummer. How can he tell me what to do? But then I realized he’s been doing this for 40 years and playing with the best drummers in the world. He’s the composer and director and knows what he’s talking about. I then realized I was just glad to be playing again with him for thousands of people.”
