While visiting the Warsaw Uprising Museum in May of 2022, I came across the Kbsp wz. 1938M, Poland's Pre-War Self Loading, developed by Polish engineer Józef Maroszek. This rifle, serial number 1019, was the center of a controversary between American firearms collector, Kristopher Gasior and the Polish government in 2013. It eventually made it's way back to Poland after the conclusion of the dispute.

Thanks for providing a nice composite video on the rifle and the controversy. I recall hearing bits and snippets about this when doing research on Polish pre-WW2 firearms, but this video does help to tie it all together. While I am a Polish firearms collector in the Chicago area, I am not the owner of that Maroszek, sadly.

I really couldn’t find much information on this whole episode and wish I could’ve dug up some more behind the scenes discussions. Alas, the Internet didn’t have much to say.

I just shot you a follow so I’ll have to check out some of your videos! A Polish Mauser is on my list to have some day.

@@GarandGuy2553 Thanks! unfortunately, my channel is going to be "dead" for quite some time (unless I just put together low production value cell phone videos). My video editing PC "kicked the bucket" and I don't have funds to get a new one nor the time to make additional videos to my "standards". I did acquire a few Polish additions that I hope to document someday.

Allies gave Poland the shaft. This looks like a cool rifle. Definitely needs 30 round detachable magazines but the fixed ten round fed w/ stripper clips was definitely the line of thought at the time so it makes sense. Polish firearm production from the ones I own is pretty well done. Of all the Tokarev variants I think the Polish model is the most well made. Their 9x18 P64 and P83 are both well made and the way they used stamped sheet metal on the P83 is really cool. It should get C&R status due to the innovation of the way it was produced.

The story about Poland being invaded during WW2 actually shows that rifle would be used as opposing forces and the allied nations had the right to take the rifle under spoils of war and would be documented 😁 maybe the Sako factory should reproduce a more modern version with variants of different calibers ! I would like to see A .223/5.56 NATO replica rifle with a over/under see through scope mount with scope

The Sako factory is in Finland, not Poland. And since this was designed for 8mm, it would be difficult for a company to develop a copy for .556 NATO. There wouldn’t be any demand and the small number of collectors who would be interested in it, would want it in 8mm.

Magnificent video! When visiting another city or country, every educated person must visit a museum. Visiting museums is very useful and fascinating. A love for the "eternal" and "beautiful" is awakened in a person, the beginnings of greatness and respect for history are inculcated. It is impossible to turn the excursion into something banal, ordinary and boring. The person should be a comprehensively developed person, cultured, educated, critically and analytically thinking, with knowledge of foreign languages. It is the knowledge of a foreign language that opens wide prospects for a person to realize his/her creative potential, career and financial growth. I would like to recommend the practical training course by Yuriy Ivantsiv "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign language", where you can find lots of useful information how to learn a foreign language quickly. Learn a foreign language and realize your creative potential on an international scale! The international community needs creative ideas! Thanks to the author of the channel for a very fascinating tour!
