This was a great reaction - I remembered screaming out (in my head - it was in a packed, gasping theater after all) just about everything you said. "You made me dirty my white pants!" Yes... when I saw Tobe Hooper's name on the marquee, we all knew what Tobe Hooper had done, and this was Tobe with a BIG budget. Wheeee

Oh my god, you just made me laugh so hard. I've seen this movie ten thousand times and I never added two and two together like you did when you said: "Wait a second. First you mess with my daughter in the yard......now you're eating my food! Who the hell hired these guys?" Damn right! (i'm talking about the part early in the movie, when the workers are catcalling the oldest daughter, then a little later the worker is in the window, eating her sauce). That caught me off guard, that line, made me laugh so hard. I'm subscribing just because of that! And the movie just started!

Great movie and great reaction. I saw this in the theatre as a teen and it scared the bejeezez out of me! Did you know many people think there is a curse on this movie? So many bad and strange things happened to cast and crew. There were several reels of film found to be blank while editing and they had to shoot several weeks over. Things and props seemed to move around mysteriously. The actress who played the older sister died shortly after the movies release. The actress who played Carole Ann ,the little girl, died while filming the 3rd poltergeist movie. She was 11. In the second poltergeist movie the actors who played the preacher and the native American man both died shortly after filming. Creepy. Thanks for doing this reaction. Loved it. Do Forest Gump next. Great movie too.

Dominique Dunne, who played the older sister Dana, was strangled and killed by her ex-boyfriend in her driveway on November 4, 1982, just 5 months after "Poltergeist" came out. She grew up through an abusive relationship with her ex-boyfriend, John Sweeney, who grew jealous and possessive since their relationship started. One argument led to Sweeny ripping Dunne's hair out by the roots and another led to him throwing Dunne to the floor and strangling her, which led Dunne to flee and escape to her mom's house. During the trial, Sweeny was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter and a misdemeanor assault and was sent to 6 years in prison. But he only served for 3 1/2 years.

See this is the thing about our criminal justice system… so many think most people in prison are violent offenders when you can be a serial r*pist and get a few years of any, but at least you didn’t possess marijuana. That’s the serious stuff! A few years? For how many months or years of abuse, terrorism, and violence that ended in the worst possible way? Unbelievable. And happens far too often. Violence against certain people is acceptable. Trying to alleviate the universal pain of life (or specific physical or mental trauma), or just have fun or relax? No!! For some people it’s apparently a sin to not be in pain. All right rant over. Just so sad that these two young girls, one of them a child, were brutally murdered.
