The Poltergeist House (Filming Location) - Another Haunted House In The Neighborhood The original 1982 Poltergeist House filming location in Simi Valley, Yikes! I take you on a stroll through the new neighborhood and come across the exterior filming place of a very haunted house the Freeling residence from a 80's Spielberg horror movie classic built on top of an ancient indian burial ground. Wait does that mean we moved and also live on top of an ancient indian burial ground? They only moved the headstones! I found something spooky! I just hope nothing pops out of the ground while I'm on my walk around the new place. Good thing there is no real poltergeist curse and that it's just a poltergeist filming location. I went trick or treating there with my siblings as a kid, I wore a mask so when the people opened the door they couldn’t tell I was looking into their place. Haha What I found interesting was, while the main foyer with the stairs was a set they built for the movie, the kitchen itself wasn’t! I was able to see into it and it had the same layout and even look as it did in the movie! Also if you look at it on google earth you will see that they actually did build and finish a pool in the same spot in the backyard, probably had to remove a lot of skeletons though. ;)

The house was owned by an FBI agent who was very involved in breaking the John DeLorean drug case. Once the case got far enough along where arrests were starting to be made, the agent was reassigned to another part of the country so they moved out. The money they made from renting their house out for the making of the film (which pretty much trashed the house) allowed them to nicely landscape the property and install a lovely swimming pool and spa in the back yard. The next occupants of the house were very good friends of mine, in fact he was the pastor of my church. I've been a guest in this house many times and enjoyed playing in the pool.

yeah! I visited and this guy who's lived in the neighborhood since before the movie came out spoke with me and gave me the lowdown. He was super friendly. You know...the Karate Kid apartment building, the E.T. house, and the Golden Girls house are all in reasonable driving distance of your new hood. I visited them all in the same day. Love your channel! You guys are so creative and inspired. Are you making a new haunt this year??

I really love your haunters web series. It's like ghost hunters, but with a haunters theme. I think you should pitch it to cable stations. I realized something about reality TV. It's not really about ghosts, or Halloween haunts. That pulls people in, but the real enjoyment comes from watching entertaining people. Speaking of ghost hunters, I saw Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson on the Queen Mary doing a ghost tour. I couldn't have talked to him, but it was in the men's room, and it seemed like an inappropriate place to start a conversation. We'll I'm building a small ghost maze in the yard. Back to work. Hey Fellow Haunters. I live not to far from you guys. I'm in Indan Hills,on Chippewa ave. maybe 2 miles from you. This year we are going all out and doing a Halloween front yard graveyard. if you want and Jeana feeling better. You should do a drive by. Just look for the only house that has Halloween decorations. lol I got the idea for my pillars from you guys. You can see my take on them. If you do come by do it after 10/9. One Son was Brain Harris I read she died but I would love to find her children and hear the real story. Fact check, for ya. The houses were not built on an "ancient Indian burial ground", or any type of Indian burial ground. That's a big misconception, that floats around. The houses were, in fact, built upon an 'ordinary' cemetery. The 1982 movie [actually] goes out of its way to state this fact. The dialogue between Steven and Mr. Teague [specifically] states, in the movie and script, that fact. (Dialogue, directly from the script and screen) (Scene: Steven and Mr. Teague, standing on a hill, by a cemetery, overlooking Cuesta Verde) MR. TEAGUE: We own the land. We’ve already made arrangements to relocate the cemetery. STEVEN: Can you do that? I mean, isn’t it rather... I don’t know....sacrilegious? MR. TEAGUE: Don’t worry about it. It’s not an ancient tribal burial ground. It’s just... people. Besides, we’ve done it before. STEVEN: When? MR. TEAGUE: In ‘76. Right down there. STEVEN: (struck) Cuesta Verde? MR. TEAGUE: All three hundred acres. It was quite a job, let me tell you.
