Thank you for the feedback and we're glad you enjoyed the video. We try to balance content between new users and those looking for more advanced functionalities, but using different files for different levels sounds like a good idea.

So tools for migration from kubernetes manifest to job files doesn"t exist ? We must recreate all files from scratch ?

That's right, there are no automated tools available. While it could be possible to create a tool like this for simple examples, most real-world files would require manual adjustments and conversations, that's why it's important to understand the different concepts and how the map to each other.

I'm a little late to the party, but take a peek at Gomplate. I built a very simple "service definition" YAML file that defined critical attributes of each container (image, port mappings, environment variables, etc). Gomplate can use this as a data input and crank out files based on Go templates. So I could easily spit out Docker compose and Nomad job definitions from the service definition YAML. You could surely generate this YAML file by parsing an existing manifest of any format. It's not quite clean enough to publish, but took minimal effort to build out. It was super helpful when migrating my home lab from Docker Compose to Nomad (which was 1000000% worth the effort!)

I appreciate you making this video. It's instructional. But you need a better microphone. Your audio is garbled. How about a nice Yeti?
