Ashton Smith Very True, as back at that time, while filming the series, they DID allow for laughter and a little goofin off. Bill Shatner was good for that, however, it was sad that in later years, all the other sctors and actresses were very negetive towards Bill, and wrote and said some really nasty things abouf him in the later years after the show went off the air. This is why Bill Shatner doesn't want much to do with any of them anymore as it hurt his feelings. He won't show it outward, however inward, if shows. I say, Bill Shatner was an excellent pick as the Captain and don't think that with anybody else, it wouldn't be the dynamic inpact it still has to this very day, from past, present and future. Bill Shatner is an excellent actor. Much better than that patrick stewart clown in that next generation garbage, which is childish, stupid and should have been cancelled from the very first episode.
@kellyrayburn40936 жыл бұрын
Dan Basta Actually from what I've seen of his work, which admittedly is only Star Trek and Dune, Patrick Stewart is a very good actor. This isn't to belittle Shatner. I do agree Shatner does seem a bit better, but I've seen more variety of Shatner's work than I have Stewart's. I was very impressed by Shatner's performance in The Intruder (also released as "I Hate Your Guts", "Shame", and "The Stranger"). I couldn't stand his character, but he played it superbly and did the job he was supposed to do; i.e. make the audience hate the very ground the character walked on. He should have gotten an Academy Award for that performance.

Back in the 60s, everything was censored. Unlike today where everything is acceptable, whether it should be or not. Television and movies had to be careful what and how things were said and done. Star Trek was known for breaking some of those taboos, by how the scripts were written. Maybe, this world would be a little better if people were more careful what they say and do.

It was a the B plot in the enterprise episode 'Bounty', with T'pol going into it early due to the effects of an alien organism. It's quite worth watching that episode, even if you dislike the rest of the show.

Dude! You knew this was coming! You had 6 1/2 years to ask for time off. what the hell? Even as a kid this drove me nuts... asking for 2 weeks off for your Vulcan honeymoon/divorce. Lord knows, he probably had the vacation time accrued. Even if he didn't know exactly when, he could have asked to be stationed near Vulcan for a year...

@@djackson4657 this was his first pon Farr, and he was already 37 here. This is way too late so I really wouldn’t blame him for thinking (and secretly hoping) that he would be spared this, at this point in time. He is a hybrid and many things within himself just work differently.

That awkward moment where you have to give your commanding officer (who you're in love with) "the talk" Intense awkwardness to the point where you can see him thinking "please don't ask please don't make me say it" like they're bashful adolescents instead of grown men in their 30s lmaooooo kind of adorable really

I still don't get what exactly Spock's getting at on 0:25. Was he planning on hurting Jim or committing suicide before his eyes?! Jim's question "Is it something only your planet can do for you?" hurts when thinking about the 2009-movie where Vulcan gets destroyed.
@skessaskessa2 жыл бұрын
Neither, I believe. It's a stylus in his hand, and he throws it at the pad in a desperate attempt to avoid a conversation by pretending to be busy working, which Jim puts an end to by grabbing his hand, thus noticing Spock is shaking. Looks like this to me.

I like how they first play the fight music slowly. Quess it was supposed to be a thread through the entire episode for different scenes at different tempos.
@jkorshak3 жыл бұрын
They also had the Trek "Love Theme," which here would be in appropriate, as well as the "Looming Terror" and "Impending Destruction" themes. The music they used here is foreshadowing for the combat which will ensue on Vulcan.

I assume that Romulan males go through the same circumstances and rituals as Vulcan males do with the Pon Farr, even though that has never been mentioned or exercised on any episode or movie in the Star Trek series and franchise.

Maybe. WE do Not know If the pon farr started before Vulcana started controlling their emotions or Not. Romulans physiology IS similar to Vulcans. But maybe Romulans men do Not Go thru it duw to letting their passions ruling them.
