Here's a though for our swale that has the riser and pipe capped off. You mentioned digging it out and putting in a sump pump to pump the water out of it when it fills up in the spring and fall. How about making it into a fish nursery. In the summer when it dries up, you can use the lower pipe to bring water to it from the pond. You well should keep the pond full, and it could also keep the nursery full in the summer months. Spring and fall you get run off to provide the needed water. Love how the pond has turned out, and love, love, love how clear the water is.

Hey Pete, that is a pretty good idea! I would have to get power out there for air. It's the complete inverse of what I had planned. Ha. Definitely something to consider. Yes, the water is crystal clear right now, at least in the shallows where there is less dye.

Nice to see! It’s amazing how much surface area is gained with a little more water. Looking great! Still waiting for mine to fill up. As for the water behind it, push that mountain of dirt out to help direct all that into the pond.

Yes, it's crazy how it grows! How much more do you need? It steadily coming up?

@@IndyFarmLife roughly 30 inches to go. It’s spring fed and is coming up ~ 1.5” a week, mostly on its own. It’ll get there eventually... Just like yours 😆

It's nice to have that free water. That's awesome. Sounds like it will be there soon enough!

My solar panels are covered in snow right now. They don’t work too well that way. Good thing my pond is full and I don’t need them

Ha same. I'm anxious to get a final depth on ours this spring. Going to be DEEP!

Looking good my friend. When its full you have to jump in. Should have timed it for summer.

Haha thanks buddy! I'm not any good at 'gainers' though. I think a full pond is deserving of a good one. Looks like you may need to make the drive up.

Looking good, almost full! For that atea holding water you ever think about digging it out and having a cove? Put a little fishing shack or maybe a gazebo back there. Keep it connected to the pond so your boats can pass through. Just an idea. You ever see those grass carp? Still have not seen mine since they delivered them 😂 I have another batch coming in March, seriouly hope they do their job.

That crossed my mind, but i was afraid that water would be really stagnant. It would be hard to have it flow/turn back there. No, I haven't seen mine either! Really thinking they are gone. I may have to do the same!

Looks great, Adam. I have still been trying to find anyone that can drill a new well or deepen the ones I have in the Louisville area. No luck, yet.

Thanks! That's so crazy to me. I'm sorry you can't find someone down there. Have you tried reaching out to groups a little further out? Maybe southern Indiana?

Amazing to see your pond full it’s gorgeous! Why don’t you do what Adam, HTA has done and make your standing water into a second pond? Just dig out the part nearer the pond. Also having a pump to pump water up to a waterfall would give you a 24/7 water feature. I’m sure you’ve seen what Bamma Bass has done with his pond. Happy 2025 to you and your family. 😊

Thank you!! Yea, several people had mentioned something along those lines. My one fear is having a bunch of stagnant water sitting around. It wouldn't turn like the rest of the pond and if I wanted it to be somewhat deep, I would have to dig it all out. All these ideas are really fun though. People seem to like the pond. Bama Bass blew up! Happy New Year to you and your family as well!

I know you stocked your pond a while back. You ever think about installing an automatic fish feeder? Just started looking into them, just curious.
@IndyFarmLife2 күн бұрын
Yes, I have. I need to get all my fish habitat in there first. Kind of waiting until it was full to do all that. So this spring/summer. I just don't want the 'fish feeding' to become a nuisance to swimmers.

I hired a guy to bring in an excavator and cleaned up the sides of the pond while it was a record lows. The weeds were taking over and it had to be done. I also had him dig out a flat area in front of the dock to make it deeper and weed free for fishing. The rains came and now the pond is up by 2 feet. Glad we had it done when we did. I have a lot of clay to move, but I can do that whenever I want. Thanks for the update and I'm looking forward to more projects and updates.

@IndyFarmLife mines about 1/3 the size and only 8' deep. I wish mine was deeper, but it will do.
