I have been a non-Chinese HK resident for the last 28 years. I have been to China many times but for very short stays. Now, the central government has offered us a 5-year Mainland Travel Permit. It allows us to travel to China for 90 days. I have been observing the development of China very eagerly. I will collect my permit tomorrow. I would love to see rural China from my own perspective and make friends with people of all ages there.

When I was born, the situation in my hometown was quite similar to this. However, things had improved a lot since 15 years ago, and there were no such houses anymore. But this village still remained the same until 2019, which is even very rare in China.

What shocked me was that there were still such impoverished places in 2019. You can take a look at one of the Chinese comments（by@rayx8329: 说实话，我真没想到四川还有这么穷的地方） below this video, it means "I never expected that there could be such poor places in Sichuan. Actually, most Chinese people don't even know that there are still such poor places." I don't hate China, Why would I hate my own country? These contents are pretty much normal in China.
