What a way of breaking your car in, Finn! Going from one C&C's to another.

Welcome to the PCA…my Hurricane region does lots of “BBQ runs” that are ~2hr backroad drives that end at…you guessed it, a BBQ 🍖 restaurant, well to be honest we also end up at a lot of local breweries too. 😊 I’ve also been invited to join “adjacent” Porsche clubs through PCA members that also do lots of drives. Love your series and glad you’re on to the driving portion! ☺️

It’s a whole new world Phil, I feel guilty for having fun away from the Garage. The hurricane region seems to be North Carolina? I love that area 😍 I got my Hang Gliding license in Kitty hawk many years ago. We would eat the local pulled pork sandwich’s everyday 🐷 fun times. Thank you for watching 🤘😎

Fun video! So....when are we going to do something about those hideous wheels and freshening up the suspension bits. I have a torque wrench, torques specs and I'm DANGEROUS!!

Love the video Finn and super pleased you are now really enjoying the 911 after all that hard work. I think there is a chance your 996 might look even better with the wheels restored to the original silver. The black makes it look a little gangster. In the UK I was a member of the UK Porsche club and experienced some super events in northern France staying in some beautiful chateau's - it's was a fantastic investment and something I would highly recommend. Thanks for the video - really enjoyed it.

Hello Lester, the wheels are a bone of contention for sure. Someone in the uk mentioned they look very “Liverpool” someone in California might say they look very LA. Off camera there have been a few close calls with alternative rims, nothing that works yet. After doing technical things in a hot garage for months it’s nice to be out and about, the PCA or similar is a great way to MAKE time to enjoy the car. French Chateau’s sound pretty awesome, so far there is no escaping mall car parks 😜 Thank you for watching 🤘😎

@@ManinaGarage Ha ha...those wheels would only be "LA" if they were chromed!! They're straight up "Oxnard" or "IE"! Get some good 18" wheels on that bad girl and let the magic of the engineering come through! Oh, and if you ever come up to NorCal, we have a little region called "Napa" (as well as "Sonoma") that *might* give a French Chateau a run for the money...

Hi Finn, in my humble opinion, restore the wheels to factory. Don't even be tempted to fit Turbo or RS wheels. Fit the wheels that would have been fitted to that model for that year. Now, at this point you think I am a goofy anorak. Well that's not true, I have just studied this marque over many years and have many friends who trade these cars professionally. It's important to understand you own a very special car. I would say it's similar to owning a Rolex. Changing the strap on your Submariner for a flashy chrome alternate from China would severely damage the value of the watch and your credibility. The late 60's 911 in your video hade stock wheels and I guess was stock in every other way. This is a great example of how keeping these cars original pays dividends. Provenance and originality is important.

Another great video Finn. Nice place San Diego, been a couple of times when my brother was living there. My 996.1 temperature gauge fluctuates too, normally it sits around the middle of the 80 (degrees Centigrade UK) but if stuck in traffic on a hot day, the needle will pass the 0 of the 80 and then you hear the fans kick in. Nothing to worry about, just keep an eye on the coolant level (mine never moves).

I think the PCA is a pretty good value. I'd pay that for the magazine (Panorama) alone. It is very good. To your Cobra question...I doubt very much there would ever be a Cobra in the wild at a Cars and Coffee. I think the few that exist are pretty much locked away in vaults at this point. I could be wrong.

Howdy Tom 🤠 In most other locations I would doubt it was real, in Rancho Santa Fe it’s possible some billionaire drives it on the weekend. The fact that it was a metal body plus the location got me wondering?? We may never know 😬

Porsche engineers a TON of understeer into the cars from the factory, but that's less true with the newer models.
