The 2nd generation Cayenne appearance is great, The horsepower is outstanding and the handling is exceptional for an SUV. They are well engineered and reliable.

BILL you misunderstand the position of Porsche PURISTS: they are not anti SUV because it isn't a quality vehicle BUT because it dilutes the brand and takes away from its history as a builder of exotic race cars

True … but the "purists" were living in the past, and after all, Porsche is in business to make money. The suits thought it wise to explore the SUV market integrating the soul of a Porsche into the Cayenne. It took balls, but this model is clearly a winner... Kudos to the folks at Porsche!

If Porsche stayed "purist" it would no longer exist and they could join the likes of SAAB and other marques that are long dead. The traditional 911 and all of it's variants are still around and perform amazingly. The Cayenne, Panamera and Macan are what's keeping Porsche alive and thriving and unless those self righteous "purists" wanted to pay 3x the cost of a 911 back in the day to keep Porsche afloat then they can shove their snobbery where the sun doesn't shine but then again, there may already be a stick up there so yeah.
