Been learning about Irving Penn and his works and this video truly gave me joy. I love how use words to describe him, his journey and his works. Thank you!!!

Ted this is why I love watching your pod casts. You find these fabulous photographers, that have such great artistic talent. Your commentary on each photo is well thought out. I wish that I lived closer so that I could attend your meetup. Thanks again Ted for another great pod cast!

Ted, thanks again for another artist series video. Almost all of my education about photography has actually come from KZbin and various things online. So these types of videos are deeply appreciated and you have given me numerous rabbit holes to delve into. Thanks again.

I'm a teacher in photography and I have to teach about 4 o 5 photographers each week in an 1 hour lesson. It is impossible to get to know all these photographers well enough to be able to teach about them. Your videos are a great help because you put the photographers in a time perspective which I can use to connect everithing together. Great videos!

Love that John Cage shot. The corner portraits are inspiring. I love the tension that they add to the shot both physically and psychologically. Also, the "metaphor" bird shots with women are visually stunning and really creative. I live near Washington DC so I believe there is some of this exhibition at the American Art museum now.

+Art of Photography loved this Episode! Growing up in Bucks County, i was incredibly influenced by the arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Impressionism, Brandywine, New Hope, and NYC. I took a year off during collage and traveled as Penn did, and did rerurn with scores of Drawings from Taos, Santa Fe, Big Bend, Mexico, Texas, along with doing studio busy work every where someone would let me. I did take Photography in school, but didn't return to it seriously until 2003, and have been in love with it ever since. Just ordered the Beyond Beauty on Amazon. thanks for the overview!

Penn is definitely one of my all time favorite portrait photographers. Pretty much everything he did he killed whether it be group portraits, single portraits, etc. I saw his small trades show at the Getty right before he died and it blew me away. Even though the prints were only 8x10 the sheer number of them just really makes an impact on you. I believe it was two or three rooms full of prints. Anywho great episode.

It would be so nice to see more videos like this! Like, going through a photo book and talking about it. I'm a big fan of photo books, but I don't have many cause they're quite expensive. Also I could listen to you talking about photography all day long and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Also, on a side note, I'm working on my first zine at the moment, I'll send you a copy once it's done :) Thanks for the always amazing content!

Thank you of continuing this series of historic photographers. Its what brought me to the page and has really given me a much deeper appreciation of the art. I hope, as you inevitably grow larger and more popular, you keep this series going. Its really been invaluable to my development as a photographer.

You should do one of these on Sacha Dean Biyan. He's on IG and is personable. You might even get an interview out of him. I've actually never heard him speak but he's my favorite photographer next to Sails Chong.
