In this video I wanted to talk about how sewing has become not only fun but practical. I live with Crohn's Disease, Endometriosis and Arthritis and realised that I often make a lot of clothing that serves a practical function of being super comfortable. I talk about the kind of styles I go for as well as 2 amazing inspiring people in the community. Leave a comment below if you have further comments or suggestions.

I know this vid has been up for a long while, but so nice to here someone who understands the discomfort of things that are even vaguely tight around the tum, when you have gynae disasters, shape changes with corticosteroids and issues with the stomach, ileum and colon. I’m an old bird who is just starting the sewing machine journey, but it would be good if I could get functional enough with sewing to fix/ create things to be comfortable around those troublesome areas. Thank you for being so encouraging.

Really awesome video. I have M.E, eczema and digestive issues. Some days my tummy is flat other days I look pregnant. I have a really small back so it’s hard to get the right , comfortable fit. I don’t know how to sew but I’m going to learn because I really want to make my own clothes. I shop by the way things feel. I’m currently wearing oversized t shirts and maxi dresses. I want to look stylish. Sometimes I know what I want but can’t find the clothes in the shops. You are really inspiring!

I've only recently gotten into sewing and this video has motivated me even more. I've had 3 surgeries as a result of my crohn's and I find if clothes are anyway tight across my abdomen (people with normal tummies would just consider it a good fit), my tummy is like hell no and it's like it starts bloating in retaliation until I feel like I'm fit to burst out of my dress. It's a horrible and very painful feeling. I'm currently making lovely palazzo pants from a Simplicity pattern with an elastic waist (YAY for elastic waists) but I'll definitely look out for more of the Tilly and the Buttons patterns, I recently bought the Bobbi pattern and cannot wait to make the pinafore :-). Thanks so much for making this video... I feel seen!

I have m.e , fibromyalgia and other issues and your absolutely right it seriously effects your mental health at time. I’ve subscribed and look forward to catching up on your channel. I’m excited too as I’m getting a circuit machine at the end of the month from my hubby, he knows I’m craft made and it’s the rose gold one you have xx

Hi Paige, I have a dental bridge that is causing problems, as it was meant to make my life easier and fill in the gap where I was had no adult teeth and no alveolar tissue, and needed surgery to make up for this, This has caused very serious rejection and abandonment issues as I am a young mum and desperate to fit in with the other young mums! So, the way I have handled it, has been to pretend that it is not there and that I am just like other people, but it catches me in the hollow where my chest and neck meet, and so people around me make clicking noises and shake things at me just to get me to react! When I sew I feel very uncomfortable, but I have decided to sew a few things for myself, and to still take care of my appearance, and look after my body, even though I battle to talk and breathe at this point in time! I like how you are still determined to look pretty and shine, despite what you are going through, and I am going to pluck up courage and take a leaf from your book!

Paige, you are truly honest, sharing with your audience how you really feel. That’s amazing👍. I agree that sewing is a great outlet for all sorts of health indications and most of all it’s a win win mentally and physically. Love your vlogs.

Thank you for such an honest video about your chronic illnesses and how you use sewing to help you still feel like you. I have IBS and really struggle with bloating and tummy discomfort and find anything fitted uncomfortable to wear. I’ve really enjoyed finding sewing to help me create a wardrobe that suits my style but helps me feel comfortable. Love your sagebrush dress you’re wearing xx

Thanks so much!! Yeah it’s just about finding what works for you and makes you feel nice. I’d love to be able to wear fitted clothes and feel sexy in them but I don’t lol! So for me a pretty dress where I feel a bit feminine in it or some bright colours give me the positive energy xxx

Love your positive attitude! Cute dress btw! I have Crohns and clothes are such a issue for me! The feel of something is so important. I don't want to be tugging and adjusting. I have been through so many treatments, and for last year been on IV infusions for treatment. I am in remission as of last month, but need to continue treatment till at least next summer when I have either a MRI, CT Scan or Colonoscopy to ensure I stay in remission. So I will be following you to see what comfortable things you come up with. I am a quilter and love to sew, but have never made myself clothing. THankful you are in remission.

Hey June, I had a similar experience but I didn’t have the infusions I was on humira injections, been on them twice now and last time my remission only lasted 8 months but I’ve been off them since the start of this year and so far so good! Stay positive as much as you can and listen to your body, things will work out. So glad to hear you’re in remission let’s hope the scans show good news xxx

I feel this on so many levels. I'm chronically ill as well and sewing has helped me so much (as a way to express myself creatively and to make stuff that I love), it's a proper badass skill to have.

Thanks for this video! It's surprisingly relieving to hear other people with similar stories. I dont really share much about my health on the internet but might consider sharing more in the future. Can absolutely relate to the fluctuations in sizes with medications and things - love loose fitting dresses for the same reason 😊
