I feel the same way. I enjoy the electrical theory, but it takes repetition to reinforce the "instinctual knowledge" you guys display. I would love to have access to broken cars to practice these skills i've spent 2 years watching about with Ivan, Eric O, Wes and ScannerDanner. Fortunately/Unfortunately my cars haven't broken, other than stupid things like cheap plastic GMC truck doorhandles that keep breaking off the truck (4th one on a 2013 sierra!!!)

Thanks to you and Eric O, I've learned a lot about the troubleshooting using a schematic (even though my RV doesn't really have one), and it's been a huge timesaver for me several times this week already. Breaking a system down into bite-sized pieces and eliminating them has made it a lot easier on me and given me a lot more confidence in the finished product. Glad you were able to take Amanda so that she could look at the horses!!

Being a Ford dealer tech 3 years, in them Lincolns I’ve seen bad GWM twice but both times for intermittent no crank no starts and black/ blank everything in the interior. Crazy stuff. Some of those older Lincoln’s qualify for a customer satisfaction program to upgrade the TCU to a 4G module from the 3G which was shut off, possibly what could cause the parasitic draws but not confirmed. In the dealership I have not personally seen one come in my dealership with a draw leading to the TCU which is bizarre in my opinion. Great diag Ivan teaching some young techs (21 yo) myself new things every video!

The last time I heard a car talk that rude to anyone, a good customer of mine had a 1983 Chrysler New Yorker. (K-car based, not the rear-wheel-drive M-body) The car was almost new and it would spout off things like, "KEY IS IN THE IGNITION, KEY IS IN THE IGNITION." The customer wanted Sargent Electromo silenced so, I called a friend that worked for the Chrysler Dealer and we replaced that with a chime. Back then multiplexed circuits had just started. I am so glad you were able to make that annoying voice happy!

The salt and brine belt crusties! So nice the OEM decided to put that semi exposed connector under the vehicle without any protection! Can you say "Planned Obsolescence!" Or the dealer says "Only $10,000.00 for a new harness plus 2 days of labor!" Real Good One Ivan! You must have an extensive library of waveforms, vehicle problems and fixes by now!

I will have to say I started watching your videos about three weeks ago. Typically I watch South Main auto. Eric is a great friend. However, with that being said. In the last three weeks, I have watched your videos. I’ve been extremely impressed with your knowledge. I have been in this industry for over 35 years. It is nice to find true mechanics and people who can diagnose properly. Running the parts canon is the number one thing unfortunately that happens in these days. I cannot tell you how many times I have to educate people to stop relying on the dealer. Not to knock the dealer but, most of the mechanics are fresh out of school. They don’t seem to have diagnostic skills, but what they do have is an unlimited supply of parts that they simply throw at a vehicle. Sorry to bore you with this post if I did. The main point is you are doing a fantastic job. Keep up the great work my friend Ron.

Other than your superior work is the look on the customers face, she was absolutely glowing, and you are right about the southern hospitality. When I went with friend to visit his mother's family in North Carolina and to bring her back home to NJ I was 21 and was treated like long lost family, every cousin aunt uncle and yes even his grandma were nicer in some ways than my own family, that was towards the middle of the state near Hickory where all the furniture used to be made, we went to the local river where they swung out into it with a tire swing hanging from a tree, I don't swim so just watched, this was so removed from the city life I grew up in and I loved it.

What a great fix Ivan, iIts amazing what a little rot in the right spot can do to a circuit. I recently had a similar problem with an abs circuit on a Nissan that was very intermittent caused by green crustys on the driver's front connector, found it with my scope. I'm waiting on gather fund's for my next Pico device purchase. I have a smaller Abs wave kit. I do use it for probing. Put it to use when my brothers 95 Yoda truck came in as a Crank no start. And fuel pump not running condition. As the way you taught us amateur wire probers. I split my system down after I replaced the fuel pump. Owner wanted a new one anyway after he bought a used junkyard pump. Took me About 3 days. Part of the day was pulling fuel tank and swapping pumps. And my regular work schedule. So thank you again Ivan for teaching this ole 69 yr old geezer how to trace wires. Using a printed wiring diagrams and marking each wire and writing down info.

It is CRAZY how sensitive CAN lines are to being shorted to power or ground. Paul Danner had a video finding a short to power on a CAN line, ended up being water inside the loom of a harness. The CAN line was able to be pulled high just from touching the bare wire with one hand, and touching battery positive with the other hand.

You would think even crap body repair shops would have learnt their lessons by now you can’t effectively use scotch locks(Dutch locks) they just don’t do anything well if you have main loom wiring that can even remotely be considered communication related or signal related solder it and wrap the sucker tight as for the crusties. Good catch I like using a small film of liquid electrical tape on the weather seal once connector is cleaned it procludes. any moisture getting in especially on abs round plugs and they can still be easily pulled apart good diag Ivan

Love your videos. I've been an automotive tech for 30 years and enjoy watching and learning from your video's. I had a fun electrical diagnosis myself the other day. 2012 Volvo with no remote door locks and TPMS issues. I had no power at the remote receiver antenna. Both issues related to green crusties at the CEM module. The corrosion was so bad that I found two pins from the module corroded of inside the connector.

Lexington is about 250 miles from where I live in Paducah. I don't know if you noticed, but there are no Interstates that go directly to Lexington. I-75 passes to the North. New Circle Road is county route 4 and I noticed you were on highway 60. When I come to Lexington, I follow the Blue Grass Parkway to highway 60. I visit relatives in Maine and it is about a 12 hour drive from my driveway to Clarion, Pennsylvania, just inside the Pennsylvania border with Ohio. So, you came a long way. I remembered the MKX that had the telematics module that was causing a parasitic drain on the battery. Great video!

Just FYI, it won't heat up as quickly but you can connect your TS100 directly to the car battery or cigarette lighter. I've found the best results (when an outlet is handy) is an old 18 Vdc, 2.5 amp power supply from a Cricut vinyl cutter. I've had my TS100 for almost 5 years and it's still going strong.
