Thanks for the review and I'm exactly looking for a wheel!

This is the wheel I have. I put the legs on plastic bed risers and it’s just right for me. My hubby also drilled a couple holes for bat pins. It’s a great starter wheel.😊

That looks great for the price. It would make. A great second wheel for turning off bottoms etc too.

I have a 14” vevor wheel from Amazon, got it last year to learn on. It is a great starter wheel. One challenge I have with it is that the pedal doesn’t seem to have a slow gradual build up to speed. It races from the beginning. I had an experienced potter try it out and she agreed that it was fast. My husband looked at it to try and find a way to create a slower build up but was stumped. The mechanics of the pedal are plastic so it is dangerous to try and do anything to it, for fear of breaking the plastic gears etc. But for the price it allows me to learn at my own pace.

Hmm… I’ll plug this one in again and try it. I’m so comfortable on the wheel, I only go slow when I’m trying to center a lot to trim it.

...A Manual... puts it to the side immediately haha love it. What is the diameter of the legs, wondering if a 2 inch metal fence pole could be use to extend more. What is the heaviest clay you use on a regular basis? Did the legs shift while you were throwing, it looked unbalanced. Thanks for everything!

I didn’t have it on the most flat ground lol. My shop has concrete floors and they aren’t level. I should have mentioned that. I’ll try to get a measurement next time I’m out there. And who needs a manual 😉😂 5 pounds is the most I do regularly. Occasionally I’ll throw up to 11 pounds for big bowls.

I see you now throw with a clay boss. When did you upgrade to that? I have the 1 hp clay boss and I love it.

It was given to me when I bought my used paragon kiln. Lucky I know lol! It was an old model so I just purchased the splash pan upgrade and it’s perfect!

What kind of clay do you use? Do you also buy it on Amazon?

I use a few different clays, but in this demo I’m using Laguna B Mix. I buy my clay from my local supplier in OKC.

My first wheel was also the little orange one from Amazon, and it was great. I loved that the shape of the drip pan was large enough to put my throwing water and sponge in. My only complaints were that with mine, I couldn't remove the drip pan for cleaning, the cord to the foot pedal was too short, so I had to use the pull bar, and none of the bat systems fit the small wheel. I just upgraded to this Vevor, I like it, except the drip pan is too small. I think that before investing in a more expensive wheel, people should try out a few cheap ones to find what they like and don't like. Also, why don't any reviews I have seen on these small wheels talk about how short the legs are. I wouldn't mind spending an extra 50 bucks on a wheel with longer legs.

I did notice those issues with my orange one, but it was some other weird brand. This wheel would have gone taller but I didn’t put the legs all the way down. I think the idea height is right at the hip bone. I do prefer my wheels taller too, but I think for posture and body health they suggest hip height like that. 🤷♀️
