Hello, my Favourite Pottery Peeps! Get ready for an exciting video showcasing this Budget-Friendly POTTERY WHEEL from VEVOR! Is this the best pottery wheel for a beginner? Well, in today's video, I'll be UNBOXING, and giving you an in-depth REVIEW of this VEVOR pottery wheel as I throw on it for the first time.
Do you wish to create your own CERAMICS STUDIO at home and want your own pottery wheel but felt it was just too expensive for this stage of your ceramics journey? Well, fear not, I will share my honest opinion of this $220 ish pottery wheel…and I hold nothing back.
I experiment with different clay weights to test the wheel's performance in various aspects, including centering, coning up and down. I also slow this pottery wheel down significantly when I finesse a pot, and I showcase the technique where I split the rim to craft a 'gallery' for a lidded jar, giving you a sneak peek into the process. I even trim pots on this wheel to assess its stability while performing various tasks.
Join me as I dive into all the features, and the performance of the VEVOR Pottery Wheel. Whether you’re a beginner wanting more time to practice in between classes or a hand-builder wanting to add a motorized ‘banding wheel’ or a production potter wanting to have an inexpensive portable pottery wheel, then this might be the perfect addition to your creative space.
Stick around to the end when I give my ‘Final Thoughts’ where I wrap up my experience and give some suggestions with how you too can use this wheel in your pottery craft.
I want to give a huge shout out to the folks at VEVOR for reaching out and sending me this pottery wheel to review! They've even provided a special treat for you, my awesome viewers - a SITE WIDE 5% discount when you use the code VV2324 at checkout.

I got the one step up from this, 14inch I think and adjustable legs (still needed to put it on 2x4s. It was listed at 200, but discounted to 160 something. I just started lessons 6 weeks ago so it is perfect for me! I really like it so far. It is not the highest quality, but it works well. I equate it to a car. If you buy the base model you don't get heated leather seats. My tray leaks at the joints, I just pop some clay on it when I am going to throw and clean it off when I clean the tray out.

Oh Amazing!! I love this testimonial, i'm sure it will help someone make the plunge. I love my Vevor wheel, I use it to trim cups and smaller things. I typically throw on my Brent, but this wheel is a staple in my studio. When I started my pottery journey there wasn't an option like this, you had to go all in (a Bentley in comparison 🤭) I'm pleased that you are figuring it out and finding work arounds! Cheers!

I apologize for my slow reply to your comment, I took a little time off over the holiday's as I had family staying with me and I'm just getting back into the swing of things!!! totally agree about the wheel and the noise that i had experienced was the packet of trimming tools that I thought they had not shipped were stuck up under the pulley system...noise is now gone..I use the wheel as my permanent trimming wheel! It works brilliantly!

Thanks Star!! Now that I tried it out, I'm probably going to get some cinder blocks and prop up my Brent too. Since I've been home I'm not standing as much as I should, I used to put int 12-15k steps every day, so I need to figure out something and propping up my wheel might just be the fix I'm looking for! Psst, I've got my kiln and filmed my first fire...a test fire (empty) but I christen it...name reveal will be coming soon!

Thank you Sarah for sharing this video, 🩷😊🩷 thoroughly enjoyed your thoughts thru the process! I bought one 3 years ago for spinning my art with the intention of using it for pottery. My husband made a wood plate stand so it fit and could be raised over the top of the splash bucket. I covered everything with plastic to protect from the paint so I could keep it clean. I took a Ceramic course 2 years ago, but it was not so easy on the wheel for me. Now I am defintely into potting and I have yet to try using Clay as I handbuild everything and have a great slab roller. But after seeing you demonstrate it, I feel ready to try it out. Love all your videos Sarah, you are so funny and honest. 🩷😊🩷

I've used the Baileys wheel and it's a good one!! Brent, Shimpo, Skutt, Bailey are all the work horses for the pottery studio. With that said, I discovered that the noise during my testing of the Vevor wheel in this review was from the tool pack was jammed up into the pulley 🤪 must have got stuck during shipping. Now that I've removed them its much quieter, and I now use it for trimming. It's great!

Hi John! Yep, I found them! I had a few people mention that they had the same or similar wheel and that the noise was not normal and that something must have been rubbing. Well, guess what? The box of tools were jammed up by the pulley. I didn't even think to look up there. They were quite snug in there too, got them out and now the wheel is much quieter. Is it just me or is that a weird spot to put them? Anyhoo, the next video when I'm using the wheel I plan on sharing this titbit of info. Thnaks for sharing!!

So I got the 14" head back in early summer. I got the one that has adjustable legs, but I ended up removing those completely because they made the wheel unsteady. It also came with only one half of the splash pan! They sent another. There's more to the story, but eventually I was able to start throwing on it, and I've been using it since then. Never have tried anything over about three pounds on it. I do use it standing up and have mine up on cinder blocks.

Hello!! I'm so glad you enjoyed this video! Btw, the noise that the wheel was giving in this video I discovered later was the trimming tool package was lodged under the pulley system, I have since removed the cardboard box, and the wheel sound so much better! With that said and to answer your question, I removed the jug but cutting it off the wheel with a cut off wire and lifting it onto a bat that I had next to the wheel. If you dry your hand thoroughly and with flat palms it is relatively easy to move and not distort the rim. Cheers!

Your right. but for a couple hundred $$$ rather then a few thousand $$ it’s perfect for a beginner, and it’s geared to the beginner. To be able to practice and see if it’s something you’re going to keep up with, it makes sense to me. Not perfect by any means and I don’t know how long it will last…but if you get the opportunity to practice everyday and start your side hustle and save for a top of the line wheel. Bought this same wheel last month because it had a lot of good reviews. Unfortunately, the wheel head is off-centered and wobbling. VEVOR's customer service is the worst I have ever encountered. Their website says 30-day no-hassle returns, but getting a new wheel has been the biggest hassle ever! Their first reply was for me to wait 3 weeks for a repair kit so that I could fix it myself. We've gone back and forth several times and each time they refuse to let me return the wheel - they keep upping the incentive to keep it. So far they're giving me $125 to keep it. Does anyone know how to fix it? I have no idea and now I'm stuck with an off-centered pottery wheel.
