The power of acts of kindness

Kindness is not simply an act of compassion; it also produces a hormone that has a healthful effect on the heart's arteries. Lee Cowan talks with author David Hamilton, who teaches about the physical and biochemical benefits of kindness; to a couple who set out to do one small act of kindness every day for an entire year, spreading the news on social media; and to the founder of Think Kindness, a program to teach schoolkids that no kind act is too small.

A small thing that I have done, that warms me inside. The next time you are checking out at the store, buy a lottery ticket and give it to the person behind you in line. Wish them good luck, and ask them to share kindness. The reaction may surprise you.

Maybe the solution to bullying is kindness. How about taking this into colleges. It would be nice to see the end of hazing. The thought of students falling prey to hazing and ending up dead when they expected to get an education for their life’s pathway is heartbreaking!

In other words, being kind and becoming healthy from doing so leaves you open to being used and manipulated, so that you can learn from that mistake and never do it again. Kindness is not a natural human instinct. The opposite is.

Tr0nzoid I’m sorry you feel that way, I have been used and manipulated, but despite that I still try to be kind as much as possible, I don’t let stop me, esp during this time of social distancing, I’ve given thank you notes to cashiers at Walmart and my supermarket, as well as my local fire station.
