Have you been considering investing in a Microscope?
Have you been wanting the Epifluorescence Ability?
FIRST WHY WOULDN’T YOU DO IT:
It’s Expensive (I have a workaround & 40% off LW)
It’s not taught outside of universities (I will have a program for this)
Now, why you SHOULD check out Epifluorescence Microscopy:
there’s a way to use a regular brightfield microscope with an external monitor/camera system that is a fraction of the cost of an epifluorescence microscope setup (I’ll showcase that in a video I’ll be filming this weekend or early next week depending) SAVE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS
It’s the BEST WAY to examine Fungi & Fungal activity inside and outside of plant tissue, sap, & roots, as well as the soil and compost: FUNGI AUTOFLUORESCE at the BLUE wavelength which is the form of light that is reaching microbes inches into the soil. Their crystals GLOW and the phosphorus they pump in their hyphae GLOWS. This is MORE TRUE TO THEIR ENVIRONMENT.
Plant Cells look like CHUNKS OF GLASS and so they are: you can SEE THROUGH THEM in this light wavelength… it’s utterly AMAZING!! It shows a different version of our world.
It’s utter simplicity to work with - I often don’t use cover slips and simply place the naked root on a slide and view it. Take a picture of root and then throw a grid on it, color in the glowing inoculation, and then we have our ratio or %. 5th graders can do this & it’s how they do it in universities!
Evaluate plant tissues for endophytes & leaf surfaces. This can show us how successful an inoculation is and can detect early blight and other fungal issues.
You are not adding light in from below but ABOVE - this changes EVERYTHING. It’s NOT the same AT ALL. I can see the SURFACE
I can let in NATURAL LIGHT and view the surface too and get a DOUBLE EXPOSURE image without any effort, just adjusting the condenser. Or I can do a full brigthfield and then full EF & then overlap them and use opacity.
LIVE/DEAD Stain (TBA)
Viability Stain (FDA)
If you already have a microscope AND you can attach a camera, you can do a new technique I’ll be unveiling soon with your regular brightfield microscope, turning it into an epifluorescence microscope! There’s also easy ways to make regular Brightfield microscopes into Darkfield microscopes for even cheaper!!
If you want to learn how to do all this and interpret it, please support the new Kickstarter for Regenerative Soil Microscopy ONLY 20 DAYS LEFT - Click the Link & Check it out:

We live in an age of wonders .. the ability of the average person to engage in cutting edge science has never been there before .. and the ability to communicate findings from citizen scientist to citizen scientist WORLDWIDE has never been there before. Good job, Matt!

I've collected used microscope equipment for about 35 years prior to my retirement. I'm thankful I have what I have, which is actually pretty good stuff. I took a look at the link of what you told another commenter you use. I have to be honest and say that if I had to start over, I think I'd save up and grab that setup. I'm not saying I regret the route I took. At the time, eBay was really the only place to get professional quality affordable equipment. Since you are discussing fluorescence, I have to admit I did pick up a few mercury adapters. After searching the web for, and finding instruction, I chickened out and went with UV producing incandescent adapters. Exploding mercury bulbs is a real thing! Incandescent sources obviously don't produce as much of the desired spectrum but they do work. I have to agree with you that the view through a microscope using epi fluorescence can be magical and breathtaking! As someone else commented, I can't wait for the book.

Just made a small pledge, can not wait until the microscopy course is available. This will open up so much knowledge and information it might be a life changing if event for me.My move to East Texas on hold for a few more months but I hope to meet up Doctor Soil soon best regards William

This right here is more than more than just a course, a book, and database, this is 'a new beginning for soil science', this will make the world a better place for everyone, and 'everyone' will have access to it, and be able to contribute towards a true knowledge of our place in this world, and in the universe. Matt Powers' main goal is to place the power of true science back in the hands of the people, the people with their feet on the ground, the people working out in the fields and gardens, the people who really do want to make the world a better place for all, people; nematodes; and microbes, alike! As someone who has been working closely with Matt Powers over the past 16 weeks, he has become more than a teacher to me, he is an inspiration, a guiding light, and a true hero of mankind, but above all this he is someone I would gladly introduce as a great friend! This is more than just a course for me, it is my new way of being, and something I will, 'without question', continue to be a part of. If you are also someone who wants to be part of something remarkable, and make a lasting, positive change in this world, then click the link, join the revolution, and I will be seeing you soon! Chrystal Carter, Australia, 'Citizen Scientist', Student of Regenerative Soil and Soil Microscopy 2022-23-24-25 and for life! If you want to change your life, and the world, then what are you waiting for, go click the link already! ;-) Knowledge is power, and Matt Powers, certainly has ample to share, and in such a way that a 'non traditionally educated, homeschooling, mother of three, has the courage, to go out there and start changing the world for herself, and follow in the Great Matt Powers shaped footprints, and maybe, just maybe, make a few great footprints of her own!! ;-) Peace, Love and Knowledge, be with you! Chrystal

Epifluorescence sounds like the way to go! And the beautiful images these microscopes produce just blow me away. I can't wait to put my fujifilm xt4 4k dslr up to an LW epi trinocular microscope and record it in 422-10bit color with a ninja v recorder and see what some of my composts look like. the dynamic range of my video setup should really allow me to see deeper into the shadows an deeper into the brights and get an accurate image.

This is the base model for my unit but I've added on several adaptations: www.lwscientific.com/products/soil-food-web-premium-plus-microscope-kit My students all get 40% discount on LWScientific gear :) Their medical grade quality is superb and as you can tell from my images: surreal at times how clean and clear it is. They are effortless to use with a 4k monitor attached.

All my students get 40% off LWScientific microscopes and they are medical-grade & have a very large range of options. I highly recommend one of their microscopes if you are interested in excellent quality: www.lwscientific.com/pages/soil-food-web
