It seems like a lot but as a manual owner I've had to shift up and down based on conditions. You downshift to pass then shift up to lower your temp and give a higher potential top speed.

Since Fast Five, the movies only featured one or two racing scenes. It was the writer's way of reminding the fans that they didn't where the franchise came from. However, Street Racing will be making a comeback during Fast and Furious 10, playing a somewhat major role in the movie. The NOS Button Steering Wheels disappeared after the 4th movie and were never seen again. I hope that they will be brought back in Fast and Furious 10. I found it weird that Sean didn't add a NOS Tank/ NOS Button Steering Wheel to his Red Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, that could have given him the edge, during the racing scene through the streets of Tokyo. After Fast and Furious 4, a lot of people thought that the franchise had left Street Racing behind them. However, Street Racing was always mentioned and each of the following movies and we always saw at least one Racing scene during Fast Five, Fast and Furious 6, Furious 7, Fast and Furious 8 and Fast 9. So even though it took a backseat, the Street Racing elements of the franchise was never really forgotten about.

FF lost all credibility with "danger to manifold" and the piece of checker plate for a floor pan falling off mid race. Entertaining, worth a laugh, but realistic the series is not. They couldn't even get their own lore correct in Fast 9. Torque wrench. Great to watch, but its like computer nerds watching "Hackers", I'm quite sure they get a few giggles.
