My first introduction to soft wheels that still allow for doing tricks were the Mini logos 90A hybrid wheels and it was amazing having a smooth ride and more cushion for my aging feet and legs. I have now moved to the Powell Dragon wheels and they are so much better, I will probably never skate a hard wheel again by choice. Smooth and comfy is where we're at.

Same here! Any reduction in speed is a worthy price to pay for the smoothness! Thanks for watching and commenting!

The first few days I had mine they were super slippery in a bad way, like if I turned my trucks too much at a medium-higher speed the board would slip out on me when many other wheels would have kept grip, but after wearing out the first layers this issue decreased. So that was a relief. I like to have two boards, one w/ softer wheels and one with harder wheels. Right now I use the Dragons for my softer wheel setup for asphalt skating, and although I love them I think as soon as my 54mm Dragons are worn down to the 50mm range, I'm going to test out an even softer wheel. Either 87a OJ keyframes, 83a Enjoi makers mark, or even 78a ricta clouds. The only time I need a wheel with slide-ability is when I'm at the skatepark and, at the end of the day, harder wheels will always slide a little better than softer wheels designed for slide-ability. There are some skate spots where these Powell dragons would be exactly what you need to get your trick, so props to Powell on that. I mostly want a softer wheel simply for skating rough ground and flip tricks. And as much as I love being able to power slide between flip tricks, I still kind of want to sacrifice my power slides in order to have a softer wheel that moves through rough church parking lots like its softer ground. These wheels are the best of both worlds, and it's super amazing to be able to power slide on asphalt between tricks while still being able to ride fairly smoothly, but I'm going to sacrifice powerslides to have an even smoother ride. I'd rate these wheels an 8.3/10 since they are something special, and I would highly recommend them. But me, personally, I'm going to go for an even smoother asphalt experience by getting a softer wheel, and just keep a harder wheel for the skatepark.

Hey thanks for watching and commenting! I had a slightly similar experience the first couple of times I rode the wheels. I really like the idea of having a park setup and a crusty setup. In the spring I'm going to give the 60mm rat bones dragons a try on my park board, and I'm going for a Hawgz (or something similar) for a crusty spot and street spot board. Right now I'm skating entirely in my garage due to the winter and the dragons are amazing for that. They're quieter than my F4's so the sound isn't as intense in the closed space. I actually can't see myself returning to a harder wheel for skatepark riding either. It might be anecdotal, but I sweat that my bones and feet aren't as sore after skating anymore. Once again thanks for your thoughts! Really insightful.

I like my the mini logo 95a A cuts. They feel softer to me out of the package than my dragons have. The mini logo dont last as long but 2 weeks in with my dragons and i like the mini logos more ( SO FAR) i do agree with the slickness of the dragons at first but they are getting more grippy every time i use that board

Diging very much my 52´s. But I would love to see them in 50, as I´m a small wheel guy.

I can see that! Seems like PP went I. The opposite direction and just dropped 58, 60, and 63mm dragons 😮

50’s in this formula seem like they’d cancel out the benefits… i have 54’s and I wish they were 55’s
@jcsk8 Жыл бұрын
@@oniongummy8969 I understand. For rought places won´t work to much, but I mean whenever small crack a 50 wheel can stop with this formula they´ll probably go over easily. And also less wheelbites. But I´m happy with my 52.

@@jcsk8 i love a flippy small wheel board, but where i live, everything is chud, so these wheels in a mid 50’s size are a perfect blend os getting around and still skating techy shit. I’m glad u like the blend, I’m 36 and these definitely keep me skating longer in the day

I really love them! My only regret is not waiting a couple of weeks, because when they dropped the 60mm Rat Bones Dragons I got a major urge to go get those ones!

so how long did this things last? i wonder, if i buy 58 mm, does it keep with me for a year before it wears down to 53 mm? i will use it on rough pavement, it would be useless when it becomes a small wheel.

Has anyone ever told you that you sound just like frankie hill who skated for powell? You even kinda have the same octave fluctuations when talking. Anyways weird observation but maybe you guys are related lol. Great video and I want to def get these dragons after watching. Just on the fence of these in 93a or the bones x formula in 97a. I do ride street mainly so I'm assuming these will probably handle the asphalt better but..the 97a bones may have more speed..
@skate_oasis Жыл бұрын
Haha noone has ever told me that! Frankie is RAD though! Such a sick skater and a fun guy (his nine club episode is awesome). I love the dragons. I'm about seven months into having them now and they're excellent now. They slide like butter and feel really smooth. I'm planning on getting a set of 60mm Rat Bones shaped dragons at some point, I love a big wheel. My cousin has the X-formula wheels and they feel great! They're definitely a little bit faster but I don't think the dragons are slow at all. Thanks for watching!
