Prof. Nutt is probably the most competent person on the planet when it comes to effects of drugs in the brain

I've only just seen this video, it's one of the best videos I've seen for a long time. As you say so many people are suffering unnecessary as the medication currently being prescribed is not working. When I have briefly mentioned psychedelics to psychiatrists, involved with my son, they look at me as though I'm crazy. The world would be a better place with more professionals at least looking into alternative ways of really helping patients and making a positive difference to them. Keep putting your video's out.

It can definitely help in a big way if used with counselling after a psychedelic experience. There are ways to get them in the uk (without having to go and pick them yourself)

Awesome to see psychedelics and Professor Nutt gain more public attention!! Thanks Fearne for being brave enough to talk about this

We SO live in a “democracy” that Prof David says “we need to change the law, EVERYONE knows this EXCEPT the government” WHY?! Because THOSE WHO FUND THEM DO NOT WANT SUCH CHANGES! People MUST wake up to the fact governments aren’t there to serve them but SPECIAL interest groups who PUT THEM IN CHARGE!

Fantastic interview. David Nutt is so knowledgeable and gives a very balanced synopsis of the micro-dosing therapies. He highlights the loss of so many lives to suicide because current treatments and antidepressants have a poor track record on up to half of the people who attempt to treat mental health issues. These therapies need more studies and fortunately, they are in process. Government agencies need to support these given they could ultimately lower public health care costs and help so many people overcome depression, anxiety, and addictions.

i am 68 yrs old and i have been anti-depressants [without a break since i was 22 yrs of age. i have lots of interactions with counselors and physicists with limited success back in my youth i did take lsd but only for fun....i would have been interested to know if professor Nutt has ever taken Psychedelics and how he would describe his experience
@greenblue693522 күн бұрын
Thats really interesting when he said psychedelics take your vision back to a time before your brain learned to build a pragmatic picture, because the feeling of deju vu on psychedelics is crazy, you go to these strange worlds but it feels like home.

Unfortunately psychedelics dont help me with my alcohol addiction, but i still get alot of benefit from them and has given me a new perspective on reality.

How do you take part in a psychedelic study? I'd love to try it - Long term depression is awful, before I had children I used to take psychedelics a few times a year and I had a lot less mental anguish, I just don't know where to turn, other than buying truffles online but there should be a better way

Loved listening to this. So interesting on how psychedelics can help with depression. I’m so glad I was able to experience ecstasy and the clubbing scene back in the day. It was very special.

It’s not true that all patients want the psychotherapy. I worry that we are unnecessarily building in costs and also medicalising the process when there is little evidence to support this approach. I am interested in following the money as well as the evidence base with this one.
