The Power of Stretching: My 30-Day Experiment and Surprising Results
Hey everyone, it's Marc from Trainall Sports and I want to share with you my experience with stretching every night for 30 days. I know flexibility is important, but I was curious to see just how much of a difference it could make in my overall well-being and athletic performance. And let me tell you, the results were truly surprising! In just 30 days, I noticed improved sleep, less stiffness in the morning, faster recovery times, faster warm-up times, and improved performance in sports like basketball, football, and baseball. Just to give you a few specific examples, my vertical jump increased by 5 inches, my broad jump increased by 7 inches, and my baseball throwing velocity increased by 3 mph.
But as amazing as these results were, I know you're probably wondering what I did specifically to achieve them. First, I stretched every night for 30 minutes, about 90 minutes before bed, using a combination of static stretching, isometric stretching, ballistic stretching, and foam rolling. However, the one thing that made the biggest difference was incorporating muscle contractions into my stretches. For example, when foam rolling, I would flex my muscles very hard during each pass of the roller. Or when static stretching, I would flex my muscles as hard as I could for 5-10 seconds on and off during the stretch.
I learned about this technique from a physical therapist friend of mine, who explained that when you stretch and perform a muscle contraction, you are effectively lengthening the muscle and then trying to shorten it while it is already in a lengthened state. This results in a more intense stretch that quickly gives the muscle more length. And by doing muscle contractions while stretching, you're also preparing your muscles to transfer energy while in a lengthened state, which can help you deliver more power and reduce the risk of injury during sports.
So, if you want to experience the benefits that I did and improve your flexibility and overall physical abilities, I recommend giving this 30 for 30 stretching routine a try. Just remember to focus on total body stretches and to keep training and practicing in your sport while you stretch. And don't forget, you don't need to do every type of stretch under the sun. Just stick to the basics and you'll be amazed at the results!
