The power of the pickerel rig.

I found using the pickerel rig, pike will cut the hook right off the line. I jimmy rigged 2 metal leaders connected to hooks and attached to where the line would be between the 2 orange beads. This way i've been able to catch Walley and Pike with no problem. Everywhere I go fishing this is the only set up I use. Dead minnows and my metal pickerel rig. Always catching fish. I swear to the pickerel rig hahaha. so fast and simple.

Hey, just started fishing the red this year, been using nothing but Pickerel rigs with crawlers and have had some pretty decent luck at catching cats, drum, goldeyes etc. What I haven't been able to get on is the Walleye. I'd love to catch at least on greenback this year but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Could be my location but I thought they usually start running around now. If you have any tips or tricks please let me know! Loved the video by the way!

what you are using is an excellent set up. As for greenbacks they seem to be starting to run now. If fishing from shore with pickerel rigs I would suggest switching to salted minnows for greenbacks and of course put some time in. I don’t think you are doing anything wrong with that set up. It’s just timing. Thank you for your comments!

Lockport and Selkirk are producing a lot walleye right now. Maybe change your tactics. I would definitely use salted minnows and pickerel rigs if fishing from shore. Thanks for watching!
