Here's my review or something on the new reboot of The Powerpuff Girls for 2016. The original Powerpuff Girls is my all time favorite cartoon, so I had to throw in my thoughts about the reboot.

I don't usually mind reboots, but this has to be the most controversial reboot of any animated show I have ever seen. I mean, people like most of the animated reboots of things like Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but that's because of the way they were executed, to which this was executed poorly and just seems like a ploy to sell merchandise more than anything else. At least it's better than Teen Titans Go, that's for sure...

And I thought these horrible visions I had were bad: Nickelodeon making a new series called "Herocats" that's a flat out ripoff of the original Powerpuff Girls! The episodes each being exact copies of the original PPG episodes with some minor changes, the 3 anthropomorphic kitten heroes each just being an exact copy of Bubbles (no Blossom or Buttercup ripoffs) and the show taking place in Tounberg (yes, it's spelt that way)! Also, to make things worse, the show even containing insults to the Cartoon Network classic it's ripping off!

I found this out quite recently The voice actress for miss Bellum did 12 episodes worth of voice acting for the show, which was about 1200 lines of dialouge only to be told her character was cut from production and they only paid her a fraction of what she was supposed to be paid. She basically got screwed over by the makers of the reboot. That and the main writer is a huge feminist and was one of the people who helped attack a deviant art user who drew Steven universe fan art and was attacked for drawing rose quartz skinny.

I only watched one episode but the fact that they couldn't defeat a a rat and bubbled broke her arm pissed me off. Especially since they've been dipped in nuclear waste, been hit into the ground creating craters, and been stepped on by giant monsters, it really pisses me off. I was so excited for this show. +Daniel Guzman it's not really a shit style if it's done right, Steven universe dose the style quite well, with the stylized characters contrast by gorgeous painted backgrounds, and brilliant use of perspective for the action. in contrast Clarence for the most part has some very clever moments and humor, that works in tandem with its odd visuals. this reboot though is soulless carbon copy trying to trick people into thinking it's one of CN's good cartoons but in reality it is the evil love child of Johnny test and teen titans go but some how with an even brighter and more obnoxious color palette.

Daniel Guzman my main problem is it's another comedy/slice of life when it should have been an action show we really need a new one for CN since it used to be the best place for them and now we're down to one. But you're right the art style of this show is insanely lazy the only thing done right are the girls giving them a nice update but not going to crazy at least in my opinion.

+Zach Ritchie sometimes, I used to just do audio on my old channel which is harder to point out the cuts in editing, but I wanted to show my face for a change when I started this channel. I tend to trip over my words when constantly talking and I really envy people that can do their videos in one take. I also don't like it in certain videos like that where you hear the breath in between each sentence, so it seems even more distracting than jump cuts. At least most people seem not to mind jump cuts and a lot of other people use this method.

+PaleoSteno A lot of people use this method and a LOT of people dislike this method but it's usually the cranky bitter youtubers who usually just "criticize" other youtubers for their viewers entertainment. Which I guess is cool, to each is their own, but going back to your jump cuts I can totally relate. I want to start doing youtube but I suck with talking; fumble over words, pausing to gather thoughts and whatnot. And by seeing these jumpcuts (seeing people use jumpcuts) it seems like a pretty decent way of maintaining a smooth dialogue (I think haha)

BTW - if you want to get better at speaking fluidly? Practice, instead of leaving on the training wheels. I was a pretty bad speaker until I went to college for architecture and had to present my projects every semester for critique. It's never _easy_ for me, but by the time I got to my thesis project, I gave a clear, fluid, and engaging half-hour presentation, without stumbling over my words, using "um", losing my train of thought.

The creators of the reboot actually remind me of the guys who made Dragonball Evolution. You know, the live action movie that just barely resembled DBZ, and even that's a stretch. They created it without fully understanding the story, characters and message of the original shows or what made them so popular. They've probably never even watched the full original show. They get the characters completely wrong, the humour and action is lazy, the animation....*god* the fucking animation... I just hate it. I hate it so much. It's why I want to become an animator and make cartoons that resemble the classics we know and love, that kids will enjoy for years to come. Not shitty reboots of shows that didn't need reboots at all.

I believe CN wanted to create a fandom based up on nostalgia and capitalise on the internet tendency for fandoms. They want the Steven universe, adventure time, my little pony, Rick and Morty popularity but they lack the main reason those shows are popular. They are GOOD! they treat their audience with respect, they have good writing, great characters, and the creators were given extreme freedom to do what they wanted, not a create me a Brony fandom out of the powerpuff girls from the executives. The episode that was a ripoff from the hangover was the one that killed this reboot for me, I'll give it a shot next season, but I'm not looking forward to it

ManiacX1999 Underdog was a cartoon about an anthropomorphic dog superhero who existed in a world where humans co-existed with anthropomorphic animals. It was some time around the Hanna-Barbera era, I think. And Captain Underpants? It's got a rich lore of around a dozen books with continuity and twists to the status quo. You know what? This is the norm of everything wrong with today's media in a nutshell! The show constantly resorts to using outdated memes that they can't even get right, the animation errors are far too noticeably lazy and just too glaring to look over, the shoddy animation style, the insensitive trans-pony episode, writers that don't know shit about the original source material, removing a likable character from the overall continuity, and that fucking hypno panda. What were they thinking? While Toddler Titans isn't any better, they have at least established that they were going to be a satire. What the PPG reboot intends to be is being nothing but yet another dated cartoon that uses outdated trends. Animation takes a very long time to make, and when the episode that features memes in general airs, the memes will be dead by the time the episode is complete, thus, instantly dating the cartoon, which isn't good. Kids deserve better, and to quote C.S. Lewis; "A children's story that can only be enjoyed by children isn't a good children's story in the slightest."

Even ReBoot with its outdated CG had a lot of heart. it started off as an adventure/slice of life series about computer life but beginning in Season 2 with Painted Windows, they began a story arc that matured the show and took it to new levels of greatness!

Nick Jennings, who serves as an executive producer and director on the series, has been exclusively a background painter and art director until his job on this reboot. It seems like he doesn't have what it takes to direct an entire production, because he's leading this show in the wrong direction. I got a lot of the same thoughts and discrepancies with the reboot only an episode or two in, but I wasn't particularly sure if the problems would persist. Unfortunately, they have... :(

I will say it definitely feels like he's trying with the show, but it also feels like Cartoon Network just wanted to bring it back for merchandise and got some random Adventure Time employee who liked the old series to make something, but it doesn't feel like the crew has alot of breathing room in the show. The recasting of the girls was entirely a creative decision by Cartoon Network, which in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this show is being plagued by executive meddling. Reboots of older properties often lack the creative freedom and polish of more original Cartoons.

Paleo's best review (or something) ever. When it comes to The Powerpuff Girls, I used to watch a lot the show. Loved the characters, humor, and even the emotions of some episodes. When I heard about the new show, I was more in the middle. I wasn't worried as many, but I didn't had high expectations. Then I watched the 1st episode, and I was more mixed. I liked some of the style of animation and there were some chuckles, but I didn't liked the directions they took with the story and characters. In fact, I felt the same thing as Home where it felt all for kids, from the way they told the message to the many forced humor. I can't say a lot since I watched one episode, but we can all agree that it's not TTG, right?

Super Cosmic Mutant Honey Candle Squid Yeah, you look at shows like Steven Universe that just exude charm, love and quality, and that show is very modern. The difference between it and this is that care was put in to make it artistically beautiful, funny on more aspects than just being "trendy" and having memes, and emotionally engaging and relateable to anyone young or old. The original actresses weren't even contacted because they didn't want to insult them with a huge drop in pay. Especially because their target audience is too young to have even seen the original. CN is under no obligation to even inform them of the reboot, and the old VAs wouldn't have saved it. They not only cut some corners to save $, they cut off so much that they lost pretty much everything good about the original.

I can provide several reasons for liking PPZ... One of them is the fact that, while a lot of aspects of the Powerpuff Girls were changed (likely to appeal to an older audience used to Sentai-style series), the charm of the original series remained. Some of the 'baddies' weren't even necessarily evil... That aspect lent a bit if depth to what could otherwise just simply been another 'good-vs-evil' fighting show. That is one thing I liked about PPZ. Now... Give me a reason why you dislike it. I have acknowledged that it wasn't perfect, but you are just flat-out saying it's bad. Provide a reason, otherwise you come off as just a troll.

I would say that the art style of the background characters more resemble Steven Universe, Clarence, Adventure Time, and We Bare Bears, all at once. It's like they homogenized all the background stuff of those series into a singular art style, and did it very very lazily and wrong.

That was a dumb direction and nothing good could have come of it, so no shit it was awful. Here they seem to be trying to just to a straight reboot, which makes it even sadder when it's bad. +Android 19 Ehh TTG wasn't trying to be a reboot of TT, and it can stand on its own, despite being complete shite. But the new PPG was trying to be the original, and completely failed at its intention. Both are shit, but PPG is the steamier one.

The background characters look like they belong in Clarence and/or uncle grandpa. I personally havent seen an episode except a small short of Buttercup trying to throw a piece of trash inside a pin but keeps failing. I could just look at the logo and immediatly see the show wasnt going to be the same. It was going to be like everything bad from this one instead of being the powerpuff girls. They basicly seem to have pulled a TTG on this show. Just imagine what's going to happen to Samurai Jack.

I've seen my fair share of bad remakes but this actually really irks me. The fact that the creators of this show dissed the original reveals how petty they really are. Removing a curvaceous (and awesome) character but throwing in twerking and tasteless jokes? What is the logic in that? Are girls supposed to grow up ashamed of their curves?

+William Howard Taft i hate to be the person to bring this up but your comment and the video made me realize this. Teen titans go and the new powerpuff girls have done the same thing. The shows were created to sell toys, they constantly mock the old show (and in the case of tt go they mock the old fans) and they both try to be hip by throwing in "jokes" of trends such as twerking (in tt go's case they attempt to use slang)... This is a disturbing trend in cartoon network
