OCDS means: Order of Carmelite Discalced Seculars. It's the 3rd order of Carmelite for regular men and women who want a deeper relationship with God.

I found my counsel this evening during prayer. From a book Fr. Tomas de Jesus said “ The souls should understand for it’s part, that in all that it does, it is only disposing and preparing itself for God to communicate himself to it and bring about in it with his gifts what he knows how to do in his power and wisdom …Let it trust in God, who will operate his work in the soul in the manner that is most fitting..let it take care not to seek to be the judge of its own progress, nor scrutinize the workings of God In him.”

After reading The Way to Perfection, and The Interior Castle and her autobiography and Saint Francis De Sales the Devote Life and The Imitation Of Christ and Saint Faustina s diary. I’m more anxious than ever. No not really but maybe I’m getting discouraged. I do faithfully Mass, Adoration and confession monthly and read these books. I WANT TO BE CLOSER TO JESUS. I just feel even after being faithful to my prayer time every morning. I’m not moving forward in the way I feel I should. Think I’m trying to hard. I’m not doing enough mortifying I suppose and I’m weak at best at fasting. Not that I can’t be hungry that hurts but being physically weak isn’t helpful. I need some direction . The entrance to this video spoke to me. Thankyou so much

Please don't do any penances that make you lose the ability to function in daily life, like, make you too physically weak or impact your health. A few suggestions: doing Ignatian meditation with Scripture (I find this easier to do than Lectio Divina). Both are meditating with Scripture. And good forms of Catholic meditation. And taking time daily to read Scripture, like 10 minutes. And you always have the option of finding a Catholic spiritual director (more like a spiritual guidance counselor).

@@gmacch yes I read my Bible too. I have set specific place and times to be present to Our Lord. I love those set times. But the only reliable relief is just talking to him and reading And talking to him and imagining what he might say. I listen to my conscience and that seems to help tremendously. Thankyou for your reply. I have no imagination for being present in scripture scenes at all
